Bonus points if it's historical or set in Victorian era in upper-class Victorian English language I’m getting on your nerves

Petrichor 4,635
I don't know if you're a big fan of poetry but if you are "Howl and Other Poems" by Allen Ginsberg is a must read. One of the greatest poets in the history of American literature.

Seeka 12,372
I think the only pure gay homosexual thing I have is... Mysterious Skin by Heim. I hate the ending though. The Parasol Procterate series by Gail Carringer has many gay characters. Mostly male, but there are some lesbians and bisexuals. However, most of them are more side/major characters but not as major as the main character deal. The Bobby Dollar series also has some side/supporting cast characters who are homosexuals. And I think Mercedes Lackey has some gay characters somewhere. I think in books related to Bastion. I seriously need more gay stuff. Maybe go through LGBT media on TVTropes? I second this!!! Great book (take it slow to take it all in, there's a ton of detail). There's also a BBC film series version of it on YouTube if you're real in to the story. Seen the movie too because Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a teen I made this thread just so I could find some inspiration for a story I'll be working on soon (This one will serve another one). That's why I included that second line in the OP because it is going to be about nobility. Also, I'm going through goodreads.com right now. They have a lot And I love those suggestions. I'll read them anyway. I’m getting on your nerves

I'll read them anyway. I haven't seen the movie. Kind of afraid because I'm afraid they may not do the book jstice. Oh seriously? After reading the Parasol procterate (I mentioned that because it took place in Victorian times) I wanted to do something with gays in Victorian times. However, I'm not sure what to do because I don't want it to be too similar. So I'm putting Victorian times stuff on hold. And I have more fleshed out ideas that want to be performed. May I ask what graphic novels you are reading? I would suggest some good manga as well, but outside of yaoi I don't anything that has an actual plot. Except for... FAKE and Descendants of darkness. Though DoD is very light on the yaoi (in the anime at least, I heard the manga is more graphic). And if you're up to it, literally all of Nitro+CHIRAL visual novels are amazing plots with p0rn. Though they are slightly weird. Lamento is the tamest. sweet pool is teh weirdest. Like seriously.

What I have right now is the complete series of The Less Than Epic Adventures of TJ and Amal. You can read this online. I just wanted to keep one for myself. It's very tame and fun to read. I recommend it if you just want to read something nice. I haven't read mangas in a long time. Tho I've mostly read just the doujinshis. Some have a really deep and moving story Right? I was actually debating whether I should do Victorian era or the Roaring 20s. Both seem pretty cool. I have the Victorian story mapped out in my head already tho. It's going to be inspired by a lesbian movie I loved tho and I just wanted to make it longer which is another reason why I made this thread. Thanks all for the suggestions I’m getting on your nerves

Bonus points if it's historical or set in Victorian era in upper-class Victorian English language Maurice by EM Forster is pretty good. It's set in 1910s England, so not quite Victorian but it's close enough. And it was also made into a movie in the 80s (which I still need to watch). Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin is a really good one too (about an American tourist who falls in love with an Italian bartender in 1950s Paris. Quite gloomy reading though). There's also The City and The Pillar by Gore Vidal (set in 1930s/40s America -- about a gay guy who has a sexual encounter with his "straight" best friend, and then the best friend joins the navy and the main character moves aimlessly through life trying to find his friend again and confess his love to him). A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood was really good (it follows one day in the life of a depressed gay professor in 1960s California as he deals with the tragic death of his boyfriend) and it was also made into a stunning film directed by Tom Ford starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore (which I would recommend as well). For something more modern I'd recommend Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman -- it's a love story between an Italian teenager and a twenty-something American who comes to stay at his parent's villa for the summer. And it's incredibly steamy
