Do you think LG5's lead single will be as commercially successful as Work?

If it's with Ronson and RedOne yes. With Zedd or DJWS maybe. Anyone else eh. With promo she will do fine. Without promo it could die. But Aris doing great with minimal promo, only SNL & an a Cappella video. So it depends. Gaga just gotta become a streaming monster soon

You're right.  The only way for Gaga to become a streaming monster is if her fans do the work.  Her songs and album need to be streamed like crazy in order for them to chart high.  It sucks that sales alone don't dictate the success of a song or album anymore.

I don't care what you think about unless it is about me.

Gaga lacks streaming power but her fans are hardcore people who buy everything she releases. She used to reign when Billboard hadn't introduced the streaming rule.

Depends on outside factors such as timing.

We all know the song will be better though, I mean...... :rip:

If she promotes it in the right way it could be really successful, she needs to do a lot of work when it comes to streaming, maybe a deal with spotify or something. I have faith. And it should be released really soon, it's the perfect time.

Wait Pon de Replay and SOS are more successful than Work?

I doubt they stayed on top of the chart for at least 5 weeks? Btw there's no rule saying the longer you let your fans wait, the more you are probably likely to sell. I don't think that's a valid argument.

Both Pon de Replay and SOS sold 2 million copies each.

As you said Work has not even sold 1 million.

Lol. Popstar charts is like soccer for gays.

Dragged? By who? Other fanbases? Well, what if it debuts at 81, then moves to the top 5 the following week, then number 1 in the third week? Then who would have the last laugh?

The fact of the matter is is that there are too many possibilities and trajectories. Too many variables: how good the song is, promo, what else is in the charts etc.

Yet Gaga has mastered the art of surprise.

People used to think they knew what to expect with Gaga. But after the Super Bowl, the Oscars, the Golden Globes the GP is now reassessing what they used to think they knew about her.

They're also so damn tired of the current lame ass pop charts, and want to be blown away by something spectacular, vaguely familiar yet brand new, and life reaffirming.

The time has never been more ready for Gaga.

That's not what I meant by a sleeper hit. A sleeper hit spends 10+ weeks outside the Top 20 before finally becoming a hit. I know #1 is not really the biggest accomplishment in the era of fast streaming but it would not be fun to be a Gaga stan on twitter for those 2 1/2-3 months the LG5 lead was "flopping".

I agree with you though on the art of surprise. I hope she pulls it off.

Hands up to the sky 🌧 I’ll be your galaxy 🌌

Well you can't compare sales nowadays and 10 years ago.
If you do that, be ready for a lot of meltdowns when LG5 lead won't sell more than Applause (maybe) or Born This Way (for sure )

Work went to #1 because there's basically no competition right now. Taylor's era has basically ended, Beiber's had 3 consecutive #1's, so he'll be in decline now, Adele has all but given up on promoting her new album now she's on tour and everyone's just buying the album as opposed to the singles, 1D are on a break, Beyonce hasn't released any proper singles yet, Nicki's on a break, Ariana has only just debuted the lead from her album and it will have a while to catch on, same story with Meghan. All the big names have either just wrapped up an era or haven't properly started it yet. There were no other big songs around at the time, so its gone to #1 effortlessly every week. Its survived purely on streams, by the sounds of it. If this is all it takes these days, Gaga can most certainly do it. We've never experienced what it's like to have a Gaga lead single out when streaming is the ultimate deciding force it is now. I'm sure we can expect more than a #4 peak, let's put it that way.

Work is extremely successful on radio because it's able to be played on rhythmic radio , urban radio, and mainstream radio. Hopefully the lead is able to be played on all formats and if that's the case , it will definitely slay :gaycat:

If it wasn't because of the music video, Work would have been a flop

Besides, I don't think Gaga would take the risk to flop again.

So, yes
