I do think they both did a good job in their own distinct styles. Hillary continued to be Hillary. Bernie continued to be Bernie. At this stage, they have opposing trend lines. As voters learn of Bernie, his support increases. As voters learn of Hillary, it often decreases. At this stage, a debate or town hall isn't about one of them f-ing up, its about voters getting a first chance to learn of Bernie's positions- as television viewers have less exposure to him.

Many are worried about, as President Carter put it, America being an "Oligarchy" and not a representative democracy. When voters have an alternative to Oligarchy, through Bernie, it's an opportunity that many want to take regardless of political affiliation.

I'm hoping for a win for Bernie, because this really isn't about B vs. H. It's about representative democracy vs. oligarchy.

While you are right that the race at the national level appears to be narrowing at the moment, that actually doesn't matter so much anymore. What matters is how they poll in the states that have yet to vote, and how many delegates they win in those states. If Bernie can't catch up in the delegate race, he will not win. Period. That's how it works.

On March 15, these five states will vote (along with Clinton's lead, all from very recent polls):

Florida (Clinton +31)
Illinois (Clinton +42)
North Carolina (Clinton +17)
Ohio (Clinton +21)
Missouri (haven't found any recent polling)

People in those states have been learning about Bernie, too. Evidently they are not so impressed.

With almost 700 delegates awarded that day, Hillary is on track to expand her lead by over 100 delegates. Bernie winning small states like Idaho and Montana in the future won't be nearly enough for him to come back.

Bottom line: What's really narrowing, is Bernie's window of opportunity. It will likely close entirely next week.

Just to clarify, are you referring to former Secretary of State, former United States Senator, and former First Lady of the United States Hillary Clinton? Is that the Clinton you're referring to as mediocre?

Seriously though these election threads are so much more interesting when it isn't just bitter ideologues posting about how their opponents are terrible. :emma:x1000

Maybe it'll be better tonight as the results start coming in.

Yeah... Hillary can be called many things but she isn't a mediocre candidate by any means :rip:

At no point in time, not ever, have Bernie Sanders chances been "good". Not from any angle. From an "expert" angle, he should have been financially "out" before he even started. He should have never tied Iowa. He should never have won a single state. Nor 2. Nor 5. Not Colorado or Kansas, not Maine or Oklahoma or Minnesota or Nebraska or New Hampshire (maybe NH lol) and yes, we all knew that the people who know him best, Vermont, where he has an 83% approval rating (the highest of all senators) we could go ahead and call as early as any. He shouldn't be so close to her in pledged delegates. No one thought he'd make it this far, not even Bernie himself.

It's been a David vs. Goliath story from the start.

There are millions of people that recognize that we have an opportunity in Bernie that is incredibly rare. We may never have it again. Thankfully, these millions have been able to break record after record of small-donation financial support.

So when you have a candidate that cares about people that don't look like him, that didn't grow up like him, that don't agree with him, willing to fight the entire system on all of our behalf, against the largest financial and political and media machinery of any era, I hope you'll forgive me that I have hope in that it is not over until its over.

The David vs. Goliath angle is the biggest fabrication of this campaign. The Hillary campaign and most politicos always expected that someone far more liberal than Hillary would run - we just thought it would be Elizabeth Warren or Joe Biden posing the threat. But all along we knew it would be a race between Hillary and a challenger to her left. And frankly if it was Warren running, she might actually win. And if Warren WAS running, Bernie wouldn't still be in the race. He was the liberal left's second choice. And even she hasn't endorsed him.

you can be proud that he has exceeded expectations and made it more of a race than most people thought he could, but there was going to be a primary this year, just like there always is when it's an open seat. Anyone paying attention knew this would be the dynamic.

And by the way, he's welcome to run as long as he wants. but the longer he does, the sillier he looks, and the longer it will take us to get all the young people he and his surrogates have convinced that Clinton is Satan to come back to the party. but we'll be fine in the end.

We have very different priorities and place importance on different issues.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with your assessment, as undoubtedly you disagree with mine. But I do appreciate the discussion, we'll see how the next weeks pan out! :)

Hillary Clinton has been projected the victor of the Mississippi Democratic primary by everyone as the polls close in that state.

Now we will watch to see just how wide the margin is.

I'm not saying this because he's not my preferred candidate, but I'm genuinely surprised by what's happening in Michigan right now.

How could several polls, all taken within the past week, be so wrong? I don't really think it's possible that the debate shifted the needle that much.

(Then again it's only 11% reporting so maybe things will change).

Feeling the Bern? :derpga:

I'm surprised honestly. Interested in the final result.

Trump is winning both Mississippi and Michigan. What a tragedy.

This is huge to be so neck and neck. Michigan was and is one of the most critical states in the race at this time. I was really hoping my home state would come through, and it seems that it could.

Polls do well to reflect previous voters, but often don't do well with predicting first-timers and cross over votes. I know for sure that at least two republicans in my family shucked that party in exchange for Bernie. Appealing across lines as a progressive is incredible and something this country has needed for a long time.

But he is getting the most flack online & in the news media for some of the stuff he said the other night.  Like ghetto & whites not being poor, his auto bail out vote & waving his finger & being  condescending to her during the debate!  Not good news to have the day before the MICHIGAN election...  :toofunny: :rip:

P. S. You're cute btw!  :flutter:

Never trust what the media tells you. I don't get how he gets flack for telling her to stop interrupting when she has always snapped at him and he's always kept his cool. Then he talks about white privelige and he gets flack but he's... White ....

Are people making it viral because it references Goldwater, who Hillary campaigned for, or because the phrasing sounds like Trump, or both?
