Most people don't read fanfic and label it off as something crazies do if they even know what it is. 50 Shades of Grey is just a phenomenon which made it socially acceptable to do so in a sugar coated way.

Anyway, I've always considered Gaga as sort-of "belonging" to an older time period.  If you look at even young actresses back in older movies from the 50's and 60's they often dressed and looked more "mature".  It's not until since the 80's and 90's and the extreme fixation on youth that now we have the opposite, where women in their 30's and 40's are expected to attempt to look and act in their 20's.  Somehow society has decided that "girls" are more desirable than "women", it's very retrograde in terms of how women are considered.  The Pop Industry is even worse because so many of the artists are presented to target tweens and younger.  It keeps people like Katy Perry from "growing up" because people are afraid of alienating the young pop fanbase.

Gaga came into the pop world in a more adult form than most pop stars, and while she acquired young fans she never targeted her music or shows to youth, she's always targeted herself to an older market.  Gaga has never bought into the youth fixation.  I applaud her for her willingness to look mature if thats how she feels.   Gaga has a huge sense of music, film, and theater history and an also huge appreciation for the elder icons that she has acquired as friends and mentors.  You notice she is the only pop star that really cultivates these relationships with older generations, because she is not so fixated on youth culture and she knows there is value in learning from prior greats.  

Because of that I think Gaga is not afraid to "grow old" and she is probably expecting her fanbase to grow up with her.   

 

 

I agree with everything you said. I remember Gaga saying herself that people were expecting her to release a jazz album til mid 30s or 40s but she said why wait? Gaga doesn't work in formulas like many pop artists. That's why I always applaud her for releasing cheek to cheek at 28 because music has no age limitation and Gaga proved that she is a true music lover and sticks to her guns. Many fans wanted ARTPOP act 2 but cheek to cheek was an important move for her career because it showcased her vocal capabilities more and she excelled because cheek to cheek was also what made her deliver that outstanding performance at the oscars and other performances from last year.

I agree with everything you said and I thought it was well written. 

Gaga does not look 30 but I like how she styles herself and doesn't give a ****. She doesn't try to look young. She lives in the moment. It's great how sometimes she will jump from one look to another from one day to the next. She doesn't try too hard to look beautiful like what the industry expects of her. She'll have ugly eyebrows and a ugly wig on and she doesn't care if she's not the high standard of beauty with perfect hair and makeup.

I love the jazz style she has. She looks so elegant and timeless. She looks like a legend who has been doing it for a lifetime and I think that's what she was going for in order to look authentic. 

Does she still smoke cigarettes? These rapidly age a person. Her voice sounds much more mature than Fame ga's but they rapidly age a persons looks so she needs to stop.

It probably also has to do with how she looked 35 in that interview. I think Gaga's looks play a role in making herself seem older especially since at times she purposely makes herself look like a woman in her 40s with the makeup, hair and most importantly gowns and dresses. Then there are times where Gaga looks her age and even younger but still has an old soul which I adore. It's hard to believe Gaga was only 25 or 26 during the born this way era because she seemed so maternal and older during that era  The only time Gaga acted juvenile was during that phase she went through in 2012 where she would post photos of herself smoking grass and getting into twitter fights with people (I guess part of 2013 too but she's human and we all go through shizz). By the way in no way am I implying that people in their 20s and 30s are immature as that's not wildly untrue and everyone's mentality ages differently. I mean I've met many teenagers that are more mature and intelligent than some folks in their 30s.  It's just an interesting observation that Gaga seems more like a 60s or 70s baby rather than an 80s one. I think Tony Bennett himself said once that Gaga is a "kid" but she has the soul of a 60 year old woman. 

She's an old soul, her soul has experienced a lot during it's past lives, they carry on to her present life.

Okay, people complaining about how "long" this post is should try reading a book. Anyway, Gaga is such an old soul I don't even give her an age. When she first started, she was younger & playful (I miss that tbh) but she still had an older presence. Like 22 yr old Gaga vs the 22 yr olds I know is a world of difference as far as their like...auruas/vibes go. Gaga has always had this mature, maternal energy. A slow, steady, wise feel. Something way beyond her years. It's to the point that when she tries to be ~young~ & ~hip~ it feels kinda weird? Like for instance: Cake Like Lady Gaga has always been cringe worthy for me bc it felt like a mom trying to be cool and keep it up Rihanna or something haha. 

As far as her looks go, she did look young when she started, but then pretty rapidly began to mature. Idk if it was on purpose or if it had to do with that weight loss she went thru in 2009-2010 or the lifestyle, idk. But she can look 30 or 40s now. It's pretty crazy. The recent work done has made her look older. She also dresses maturely. 

Maybe she's really in her 30s for all we know lol

Gaga does seem "old", but I love her for it. She's a true artist in every sense of the word, and she takes this music industry seriously. Heck, she's sung with Tony Bennett, Tony Bennett, I bet most pop stars today don't even know that he was/is a legend. 

Her maturity level and sense of music are also what makes her "older". Again, what other pop star would build their own charity to help underprivileged youth (Born This Way Foundation) or speak for almost two hours at Yale, just talking about how society is f*cked up, and how we have the ability to change that (Emotion Revolution).

Not saying this on a negative manner, but pretty much EVERY pop star (well not maybe sing with Bennett but others and they absolutely know Bennett)
