Eh, that's just another one of your made up definitions. Taylor has had extremely successful eras for a decade now, with no sign of slowing down. People are tiring of her? Really? That's the same type of comments you made about Adele a while ago...and we all know how that turned out. Lol

What a joke. None of those silly rumors for a second stuck in any way. That's not a backlash, that's online sites making up anything they can think of to get hits. If Taylor wasn't insanely popular, it wouldn't pay off. Nope, it doesn't remind me of Gaga in any way. Gaga's and Taylor's career trajectories have been completely different and they appeal to different audiences.

If Taylor never sells another album, she will have a decade of records, awards, critical acclaim and respect....which is already longer and more impressive than 99 per cent of the artists out there.

Not really. AC songs rarely crossover nowadays unless you're Adele/P!nk/Bruno/Rih.

1989 is an album full of max martin song. Remember how this fanbase dragged Katy bc of her max martin produced albums? When you think about it,  that only shows how transparent this fanbase is.

thank you!!

And those who are saying 1989 is better, :wtf: omg, im gonna pray for you guys, and im not even stanning for 25 but 1989 is way more generic and boring

IDK... I'm so sick of listening to HELLO and sad break up song... 25 isn't that good...I really don't think any other song of the album is strong enough to top the chart.

Only highly successful in a handful of regions, though. I only count an era as extremely successful if it was global. She will slow down real soon - she's hit the 10 year mark. Madonna and Mariah dipped dramatically after a decade and if it can happen to them, it can happen to anyone. Admittedly, I got the predictions about Adele wrong, but we're going to have to see how the follow-up to the follow-up does to see if she truly is here to stay.

Just because they didn't stick doesn't mean it doesn't count as backlash. Media don't come up with this stuff unless they want a celebrity to fail. All career trajectories are the same in my mind because they all deal with the same thing - downfalls, a lack of public support. What do the audiences have to do with it? You simply can't accept that Taylor could be about to experience a downfall and pride always cometh before a fall. By the way, though my research, I was suprised to find how many artist's worst seller immediately followed their best seller. That's all I'm saying.

I never denied that she'll leave a big legacy behind her. I'm simply suggesting that she's going to go through a career dip. Swift fans are always so oversensitive and just parrot her achievements as the answer to everything. It may surprise you to know that most adults don't know or care about Taylor and I think that is proof in itself that she can't be successful forever.

Once again, that's your personal definition, not how the music industry sees it. Taylor still sold over two million outside of the US, which is way more than the majority of artists sell in TOTAL worldwide.....so, not really unsuccessful on a worldwide level. She will slow down when and by how much? By her sixth era? Seventh one? Eighth? How much will she slow down by? Back to some of her previous eras? If that happens, I would hardly call that unsuccessful.

Nah, it's not that I can't accept it...I simply don't believe it will happen to the extent you are hoping and wishing for and I really don't care if it does happen. She's still going to be an artist that did far better, for longer, than 99 per cent of the artists in the last decade.

Let's be honest, except for Adele and to a smaller degree...JT, most adults are too busy to care about any artist. It may also surprise you that a large percentage of Taylors devoted fanbase are girls who grew up with Taylor. They are now in college or young adults and they still follow and enjoy Taylor's music. Her original fanbase is aging, but she keeps adding a new layer every two to four years. That's why she is still so popular....her fanbase has stuck with her as she has added new fans along the way over the last decade.

That's what I'm saying, she only really had one very successful era internationally in 10 years. When she consistently keeps this up, then we'll talk.

I didn't say she'll crash and burn and sell less than 1 million worldwide. I just meant she'll have an era that's much more subdued. Back with her debut when she sold about 5 million, something like that. Which is still a lot, but the majority of it will probably be from the US, so the rest of the world won't really notice it. Again, just like what happened with her debut.

I'm not saying they have to know all their songs or care about them, just know their names. When I was younger, parents knew who The Spice Girls, Britney, Beyonce etc. were. Even my out of the loop grandmother did. And a lot of them know ones that started out in the last few years like Rihanna and Gaga. They're so big that you know who they are even if you don't follow them. But see a lot of the others? Most adults don't seem to know or care. I know it's hard for an American to believe this but Taylor has only started becoming a big deal here recently. She still hasn't sunk in for a lot of people.

It's not hard to believe, I just don't think it matters. Taylor is huge in four of the top six music markets in the world. That has served her well in the past and will continue to do so in the future. If the next era, she only grosses 150 million on tour...like she did with RED versus 250 million with 1989, I'm sure she can pull herself together somehow and go on. Lol

Look at Katy, with all the talk of being a worldwide artist. She didn't even manage to hit 200 million on her big "worldwide tour", despite playing twice as many dates as Taylor....and Prism sold less than half of what 1989 sold in total. Yep...I would take the 82 dates at 250 million any day!

Your personal definition of success is someone who is internationally successful...even though they aren't selling close to what less "internationally successful" artists are selling. I simply don't agree with your definition of what it means to be a highly successful artist.

Bottom line...and on topic :), Adele is killing it this year! Taylor did the same in the year before and Adele is doing even much better than she did. That means these two ladies were the most successful artists in the last couple of years, coming off of successful eras in the past. I enjoy and respect both of these artists and I'm extremely proud of all their accomplishments and accolades! I'm looking forward to following them for years to come!

Yeah, Taylor is at her greatest heights right now.
