Alicia Keys :nick: @Alien Tulip she's singing "I've Got a Crush on You". Thought you might be interested :)

Here's hoping Gaga's taking notes and planning on asking for a collab

Uhm, no ;) That's not how jazz standards works. The best songs were sung by many artists and sometimes it became very popular through a popular singer or a great special voice, like for example Frank Sinatra. Tony Bennett does the same today with jazz standards, he introduces jazz to a younger audience through Gaga.

Some examples:

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered is original from the Rodgers & Hart musical Pal Joey.

I've Got a Crush on You is from Broadway productions. Lee Wiley recorded it also before Sinatra.

Even New York, New York was original sung by Liza Minnellis in a film.

Frank Sinatra has interpreted them, as Tony does it today.

Well we know :green: but they're more often than not known for Frank's take on them so some people consider them his songs :)

Yes, he became popular through this songs and the songs became very popular through him. But he was still a interpret of this songs, but a great one for sure.

I was lucky enough to be raised by my grandparents who had me growing up with the oldies. The Jackson 5, the Supremes, Buddy Holly, Elvis, all the greats and Sinatra was one of the big ones :flutter:

Right? It's like 99% of the American standards are from Frank

Perfect homework music :nick:

No, they aren't, he simply sang alot of them and his covers became famous, but most weren't *his* songs.
