KURUSHITOVSKA 20,442
So I listened today to Focus by Ariana Grande and I just realized how much Deep House has become mainstream. All songs today sound the same style and they abuse this kind of production because they know that it can be played on clubs. I'm a fan of Gorgon City (English DJs) and MNEK since I discovered them and I love deep house music, but I hate the fact that they're using this music, that started as something underground, to make pop music. Why can't they just make original pop music? Gaga made a pop album with ARTPOP and didn't fall into this music style, and I love how she is always working outside those mainstream rules stated nowadays. I know that pop became all electronic many years ago, as EDM is mainstream now, but I don't get where's the need to use something classy and underground to make pop music. They saw Lean On having success and now all songs sound THE SAME. Some examples are: Madonna - Living For Love (Demo) Justin Bieber - his 3 latest singles now Ariana's Focus and many more. I'm leaving here some of my deep house-ish favourite tunes: (Sorry for bad English, I hope y'all understand me!) ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula? gagzus 14,463
It's because Deep House has been popular here in Europe since the late 00s & America is just catching on and is behind on music trends, just like they were when the Fame came out and caught onto Dance music.I personally love Deep House & i'm happy it's in mainstream songs, because now i actually am starting to like American acts' music again. Florian 19,916
That's just how Pop Music works. Pop Music is not a genre as Hip Hop or Dance can be. Pop Music is not set by rules or sonorities.Pop Music is simply a witness statement of a period, and that's why Pop Music is that interesting imo. The pop from the 70's is not the pop of the 00's or 10's. Pop is inspired by all genre or sub-genre and you'll have to deal with it.
URFUTUREFAV 1,292
It's not really deep house... More like Deep House mixed with Tropical House and a little bit of Trap influences... I like it tho People hate what they don't understand.
yxi 4,999
I love the production on this one but the singer is too generic, it would've slayed with a better singer.
Mister Gaga 22,031
Well, i agree with the fact that mainstream acts like Ariana are trying to follow the trend, but you can still find great House artists like Disclosure (who actually started the trend, along with other artists). Their new album, Caracal, is full House, and it's great imo

craig 680
Deep House is a 90's trend recycled. I never liked that period of dance compared to the 80's or 00's.
