Gaga's visuals are always great...acting is good, but could be def better, I love when she uses the dark low monotone of her voice in the scenes, but when she speaks normally, well...she's just Gaga for me and not The Contess:P

If Saw, Hostel, se7en, and The Hunger had a love child, you would get Hotel. Lots of ideas were introduced, and it left me wanting more :queenga:

This season's opening was one the stronger ones in the franchise!

I think Gaga's body language was on point. She really fits well with the dark and evil aesthetic. But I think she was slightly weak in some of her line delivery, especially in the scene with the kid. But I'm sure she'll get better as she gains more experience and I'm definitely perchedT for what The Countess is going to do next.

Edit: The best acting so far has been from Kathy Bates. Sarah Paulson is interesting too since it's the first time in AHS she's a villain. I can't wait to see Angela Bassett and Queen Naomi Campbell!

PS: Imma need Matt Bomer to slice me up

This show is disgustingly gorey.... Too much for me... Terrifying painful p--n with gore and goblins is not my idea of good tv...

But I've not seen Gaga's part yet. Some of this stuff shouldn't be on television. You put this crap into your head, and your subconscious mind doesn't forget it, it sticks in there... I don't agree with it.

I watched it for the second time and I honestly think that Gaga portrayed her role on par with her counterparts this season. I am extremely glad that she is apart of this season, it seems a perfect fit.

I can admit that her dialogue with the child did seem a little stilted, but I kind of adored that, it made me intrigued in her character's persona. on the other hand, her opening sequence was iconic and memorable. a visually appealing scene. loved it.

I do agree with others that this was her first episode and eventually she will get comfortable with the others and her own character, only allowing her to improve and settle in more!

next episode seems to involve more dialogue and I hope she continues to impress those who are already hocked by her contagious character.

It made me feel so uncomfortable the whole episode... I can't really explain why.
It was simply like sad, and moody.

I really loved it, but at the same time I felt dirty watching it, don't know if you guys know what I mean.

Gaga was amazing. Everybody was to be honest. I was expecting very little, but she was great.
Hopefully she will have longest lines the next time around, but still.

I , too, felt it.

Troubled. Worried.

I feel like this took Gaga twenty steps back with the GP, this show is so filthy and disgusting.... Some things, again, shouldn't be put in your head. Some of you may have nightmares from this crap. Some stuff, especially if you've experienced some of this in similar ways in real life, shouldn't be glamorized and made real on screen... I don't know. To me it seemed like pandering. We are pandering to a culture that is insatiably lecherous for MORE blood, MORE s-x, MORE gore, MORE horror, MORE s-xual deviance, because one bar is never enough.. They have to reach higher each time because they get de-sensitized.  How much is too much? No one is satisfied. They reach for MORE, to re-stimulate what doesn't feel wild enough anymore.

What I watched tonight, before I had to shut it off, was the result of a completely hyper-stimulated culture to which NO boundary is respected, NO bar is too high. It was too much for me.

I think it could have been done more tastefully, with innuendos and implications that could have spared the outright disgusting thoughts and ideas that pop out of the screen all too real and all too graphic.

Essentially, I would pay someone to re-edit it to a rated PG 13 or a rated R instead of NC17, if you know what I mean. Too much gratuitous gore. I know some of you will think I'm crazy, delusional, prudish, conservative, whatever, you name it, throw it at me --- but I really think MORE story could have been told and expressed with LESS gore and horrorific imagry.

Someone is over reacting?

Someone just has an opinion.

This one looks promising, I will keep watching to see how it progress, hope it's getting better

The first episode is good, but hopefully less s-x and more character development

and about Gaga's acting was kinda inconsistent the way she delivered her lines, just seems like on and off characters imo, but not bad for her debut, definitely could be better

I just can't stand those people that saying this season will be a mess base on one single episode, and ask for Jessica Back to save the show, morons, even Jessica can't save Freakshow.

Freakshow mess happened after the clown died, and it turn into Dandy show and guns

I hate the use of of guns because I expect more gory murders, so Hotel got me hooked instantly with it's gore

I disagree, boo. I am all for the macabre as long as those who shouldn't see it (ie children) are kept away. I think there is a certain beauty in the AHS genre.

But I also think you're a saint, and I am not a fighter. You have a good day, and I love that we live in an existence that allows such multifaceted opinions.

Someone just has an opinion.

ofc you can have an opinion, but that seems to much...i mean it was clear the gore/blood/d--gs theme of this season, if you don't like this genre simply don't watch it

I'm on the fence if I will or not, hahahahah!

I really think TV critic Rob Owen nailed what I was trying to say a little better than I could:

Subtlety, thy name is not Ryan Murphy, who directed tonight’s pilot and co-wrote the premiere with series co-creator Brad Falchuk. In scenes like the junkie rape — and two different murder scenes and in another scene where some bald creature erupts from a mattress — one wonders if they’re just pushing the envelope for the sake of it and not for any greater artistic purpose beyond out-grotesquing what’s come before.
