Bye 3,947
I don't like it as well. Or even the discussion about it. Like who discussed if straight marriage should be allowed. They just should have allowed it since the begnning And this might be an opportunity for conservative countries to do such referenda and then claim that their country doesn't want same s-x marriage and then it'll take even longer for true equality
Bye 3,947
As far as I know, constitutional requirements in Ireland meant that it was either a referendum on same s-x marriage or a referendum on removing the need for referendums for constitutional amendments (to allow those in power to do it directly), the latter would never have happened Every constitutional change from divorce to the removal of the territorial claim to Northern Ireland has happened through referenda. That's understandable then... although they really should consider amending their constitution if minority and human rights have to be decided through popular vote. Luc 4,776
I don't like this trend of introducing same s-x marriage by popular vote...I agree that the rights of a minority shouldn't be decided by a majority, but it's in all countries it'll be used in going to help legalize same-s-x marriage, which should always be encouraged. It also makes people discuss about it and take a stance (which as the time goes by is more normal and more normal).
