eifulien 3,003
Let's start with the LG4/5/6 - count it however you like. let's avoid this conversation in this thread. I've been thinking - Gaga surely has her fair share of "personal" songs in her discography. I even support that ARTPOP is personal despite many claiming it lacks substance. But what I would love to hear in her next project is a really touching and soulful theme. I truly love songs like Swine and Aura which are personal but rather agressive. What I mean "truly" personal is that it needs to be reflected in the music, the lyrics and the theme. Right now, albeit personal, not many of her songs are relly relatable to me. I can't really relate to songs about the glam of fame, the burden of fame, media attention, fashion, weed or alcohol abuse... And maybe some of you also can't relate. But we can relate to songs about being ourselves, having fun, being let down by our beloved one. So I really hope we will hear that vulnerable side of Gaga. I'm here for songs like Monster, Speechless, Dance in the Dark, You and I, The Edge of Glory, Gypsy - songs that are quite diverse, but all are very emotional. What about you? Can you relate with songs like DWUW, MJH, Fashion! or you prefer sth. more intimate and emotional? Are you here for such material on her next album? Emvee 8,547
I think Gaga cringes at the idea that in order for a song to be "truly personal," it needs to be a ballad or some sorrow downtempo song like the type Adele is popular for. But, then again, we shouldn't be comfortable with the idea that Gaga is only a dancepop artist or only an "unconventional" sort of artist. I believe she is also capable of conventional sort of songs. She has done them before, it's just that in her evolution as a dance music artist, she leans more towards aggressive songs like Swine or Aura instead of """"conventionally beautiful"""" songs like "Someone Like You."Btw, does anyone else have trouble replying to threads on mobile? I had to turn on my laptop to reply to this and it's REALLY ****ing annoying.
Miky 9,565
I think all of Gaga's songs are personal to her... I can relate even to Donatella in some parts so it is really subjective. I don't like the idea that a song needs to be slow in order to be personal and "touching". I think e. g. Marry the Night is so personal yet it is a huge up-tempo record. Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

What I mean is that I would like to hear some raw, emotional Gaga. She always puts heavy emphasis on the concept and that's what makes her style unique maybe. But this time it'd be nice if we don't have an overwhelming statement (personal, political, religious, etc.) like in BTW or a concept that's quite philosophical in nature (ARTPOP). I believe "basic" is the term that type of fan enjoys using.Regardless, I think most people are expecting Gaga to be a little more toned down and "quality." After the Sound of Music performance, most of the GP think she has left her crazy days behind and is ready to do "real music" now. Who knows maybe she is. And if she does crazy pop music ala ARTPOP again, the media and critics will eat her alive for doing the same thing again. Now THAT is truly boring. Just like Brown Eyes and Again Again, they just touch the surface, they don't reveal the true vulnerability of the artist which is the point of these kinds of songs. Speechless was a step in the right direction, and well Dope would be okay if only the song didn'T completely suck because of the horrid vocals she does in it...seriously, might be the worst song of her career, even J&D is better
PartySick 163,142
I'm here for anything but a romance song. They're so cliche and a dime a dozen these days...I relate to Fashion!. That's the point. For me, FMA is all about the anger and the feeling. I guess I can relate because of the amount of times I've been lied to after being promised it was the truth. It's also very beatlesy...
