I think Gaga's musical output IN THE RECORDINGS does not match her musical talent (yet)

Does anyone feel that Gaga's songs and albums don't match her immense musical talent?

I feel she is a better live singer/performer than she is a songwriter, so maybe that's why.

In fact ,I think she might know that herself deep down inside, and that's why she's often trying to attribute some higher cause and deeper meaning to her songs.

I feel she's sometimes insecure about her songwriting and her songs and albums, but very confident of her vocal abilities.

And I think that's one of the reasons why people "didn't know she could sing like that", as it often happens... because her recording don't really display her talent properly.

Her albums need more finetuning. All of them still have filler songs. I think she's capable of a flawless album in the future and I don't think she's a bad songwriter at all.

i think u feel it more emotionally live and appreciate it more and it makes it seem that way simply because its more raw you know? and its nice

but if most of her live performances were legit the best she could do in recording ummm... yeah :awkney:

Definitely!

But I think she's an amazing songwriter, she just has to be braver imo and leave silly pop lyrics behind!

I think she writes more rock oriented  songs better than when she actively  tries to write a pop song.

I feel the same. Not even Cheek To Cheek feels as raw as her live vocals feel to me. That's why I have most of her lives on my iTunes library, songs like Aura are masterpieces and live they feel even better.

I feel like her best albums are yet to come. Her first four are still brilliant though.

I think that's part of the reason people were so surprised to see that she can actually sing

Do you hear that? It's poison.

I totally agree with you. To me her main problem has been overproduction. I imagine Gaga finishing her songs with that initial idea but then towards the end letting the producers/mixers etc. overdo things (reasons could be her label trying to influence her work or herself trying to "polish" by exaggerating it)

She needs to accept help from others and stop trying to do it all herself.

I agree. Even though Perez Hilton is a MESS and a horrible person, I do agree with what he said that Lady Gaga had a too big ego to work with other people

Maybe because she don't want to be use just for money. So she's doing it all by herself.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever, people collaborate all the time. No one has all the talents in the world. When different talents get together good things are created. I`m sorry but Gaga is not a good director and is an ok songwriter.

I do feel her vocals generally shine a lot more on ARTPOP then they did on previous records. It shows more diversity. Sometimes the music is so heavily produced, her voice kinda fades in the background too much, which is nice for popstars that can't really sing that well, but in Gaga's case the voice is so strong it should be allowed to fill the room, even in a pop song.

I disagree with you on this. Lyrically I find her to be very clever, poetic and refreshing. I love it when her songs have a 'hidden' deeper meaning. People can just listen to it without a care in the world or others who examen it a bit closer, can find a deeper layer. I don't think she attributes the deeper meaning, I think it's the other way around most of the time. She knows what she wants to write about, writes down sometimes dark and deep poetry, and pours it all in a popsong with a twist so it sounds all happy again, but it's still deeply emotional at its core. That's why she can always sing her songs from the heart and they sound just as great, maybe even better acoustically.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I would tend to agree in that I don't think her pop albums have really allowed her to shine as she can to this point.  She has so much potential, and can still do it in the bounds of "pop" music but not in the artificial realm of dance pop.

In fact I think Captivated is probably her best song.  it's the song that lets me know that the potential is there for the full package of excellent piano work, excellent vocals, and excellent songwriting.  I personally don't think she has truly matched that work in the official recordings to this point, although she's come close with songs like Speechless and Dope.
