Do What U Want: bigger than we give credit for?

*Break Free's sales are 1.550.000 & will probably end up at 1.8M-2M when its all said and done.

*It isn't a bigger hit than we give it credit for, it is what it is.

*Now if you want to put things into consideration and discuss how it had the potential to be a bigger hit, then sure, but that's already a totally different topic.

Judging from this thread and from what I've read and seen elsewhere, DWUW was pretty big around the entire world. So maybe it was just your place that is a flop :emma:

Judging from numbers alone, it was a hit in the U.S, U.K, Mexico, and most of continental Europe. Meanwhile it was huge in Canada and Scandinavia.

It only really flopped in Oceania but so did everything else ARTPOP-related.

And as for Anaconda, it had a bunch of controversy around its video and became huge cause of its vid, so that is probably why it sold as much as it did

Fair enough :emma: Actually I have heard Xtina's version pretty often

One of the rare people on GGD who gives legit points :rip:

So yes, DWUW is bigger than we (me) gave credit for

HDD in December had it at 1.3m http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news10228m01

I don't know where another 250,000 came from considering it's #80 on iTunes rn but some receipts would be nice since I only used the above as a source and could definitely be wrong :P

i can't believe that ARTPOP underpormance is mainly due to poor management. I can't at that fact that Interscope let this happen to one of their biggest money-maker

It did well, it just could have been so much bigger. It was her most appealing single since Alejandro or even Telephone. First time I heard straight people talk about her in years lol

idk. the song is an R&B which is very popular in U.S. it's a feature, has a Beats commercial and released when hype for ARTPOP is still high.. it has some decent promo but it it is huge failure for gaga's standards.

A Beats commercial that was played for a week hardly even counts. That commercial was nonexistent in the U.S after DWUW's initial release, unlike Applause's commercial which still made frequent appearances in early 2014.

DWUW is really a masterpiece. I don't even think Beyoncé can do justice like Gaga did on that song. (No I'm not saying that because I love Gags) it's the truth! And she topped it off with that BEAUTIFUL remix with Rock Ross :legend:

I stand corrected, its 1.520.000 and not 1.55m... i have an awful memory, but its still more than 1.4m

1,335,000

16/11 19k

23/11 16k

30/11 18k

07/12 13k

14/12 15k

21/12 15k

28/12 52k

04/01 36k

That was Break Free's sales the last few months, and the new estimated sales for this week are 23,000. (for the past few weeks all estimates were nearly perfect).

I use this as a source http://kworb.net/cc/

According to that, Break Free will be around  1,540,000 next week.

What are its sales WW anyway (without the US sales I mean)

And yea, damn Australia/Oceania leaving her :grr:

That was actually the version I never heard, except for when I played it :emo:

Well I guess not really, it had two remixes and they only played the original here.

But yes, I try. At least when I'm trying to prove a point anyway haha

Vernier

The lack of video and messiness of the era clouded people's opinions on it

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

So true. Had it not been for her management issues, it wouldn't have underperformed so much (the album/era)
