jojo Freud 653
Not really. Islam promotes outdated practices such as stoning for adultery, hand amputation for theft, death for blasphemy, and death for apostasy Well we cant really call Christianity peaceful either. In much of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, there are laws that command that people be killed for absurd reasons such as working on the Sabbath, being gay, cursing your parents, or not being a virgin on your wedding night. In addition immoral laws, there are plenty of examples of God's irrationality by his direct killing of many people for reasons that defy any rational explanation such as killing children who make fun of bald people, and the killing of a man who tried to keep the ark of God from falling during transport. There are also countless examples of mass murders commanded by God, including the murder of women, infants, and children. I just got home I worked 2 blocks up from the attack My brother's friend was the girl that escaped. one of them is pregnant!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Literally the only comment I cant make right now

garnite 8
Islam has nothing to do with this behaviour. Extremists rather use religion to support their views and use religion as a shield. so, holding a flag with an arabic declaration of islamic supremacy/veracity has nothing to do with islam. using islam to support their views that islam should rule the world is nothing to do with islam. it's got everything to do with islam. it's an interpretation of islam that you and many other muslims don't like. but don't say it has nothing to do with islam or religion. these views you are saying that they are using religion as a shield for are views entirely centred around islam. it is inextricable with it. jojo Freud 653
Of course. Not every muslim is in ISIS but ever ISIS member is muslim and not Christian,Jew,Buddhist, Atheist I really dont want to start a religious debate. I dont support any religion, I dont follow a religion and I largely view religion as a burden on modern society and development.
Didymus 34,380
Islam's political/military faces aren't surprising at all when you look at the context in which it was created and in which it developed further on, so it's actually not even that easy to identify the nature of Islam specifically with violence. Ignoring the political contexts of the parts in the world where Islam is interpreted violently and ignoring the history of Western colonialist politics makes this discussion just incomplete and misleading. craig 680
There is poison is both Islamic and Christian scriptures. The extremists focus on that poison and make it the centrepiece of their faith. Most actual decent reasonable Muslims (like Christians) ignore most of the poison, or at least the worst of it. Islam is the most warlike major religion now and at it's founding (The Prophet conquered cities). But back in the 16th-17th centuries Christianity was worse (Thirty Years War, etc). Religions can change for the better.

Didymus 34,380
None of them is killing whole folks because of a different religion/view That has nothing to do with religion, that has everything to do with changes in the political field, separation between church and state (something Islamic states do not have) and the fact that religion in Europe has no institutional power greater than that of a government who has its own military interests now. So no, I don't think that's a good argument at all. To me, it just shows that the role of politics in religious conflicts is in most cases essential. I dont support any religion, I dont follow a religion and I largely view religion as a burden on modern society and development. Thank you. Religion has nothing to do in modern society, it is obsolete and useless. If people want to believe in some sh*t, let them do, but don't let it overflow on society, period. Didymus 34,380
I don't see a radical Christian group taking over Europe like ISIS do. You can't honestly be equating the political context of Europe with that of places like Syria. I don't think it's hard to understand that if the political context was different (and this brings in the whole history of Western colonialist politics in these areas), terrorist groups like that just wouldn't exist.
