Batwings 12,957
Apparently, they haven't listened to Born This Way. Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/12/10/ex-gay-billboard-virginia_n_6301334.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592 A controversial "ex-gay" group has put up a billboard, sprawled with the words "Nobody is born gay," along a major interstate highway. The billboard appeared recently beside I-95 in Richmond, Virginia, according to NBC affiliate WWBT. The sign depicts two males, one dressed in a suit and the other in a white T-shirt, and says: "Identical twins: One gay. One not. We believe twin research studies show nobody is born gay." The group behind the billboard, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, otherwise known as PFOX, is a national nonprofit that promotes ex-gay ideology, or the thinking that a person who identifies as gay can, through some kind of revelation, or in some cases "conversion therapy," renounce their homos-xuality and claim they are no longer gay. On its website, the group cites two studies purportedly denying the existence of a "gay gene," one of which was conducted in 2000 with participants who were twins. (LGBTQ Nation pointed out this interpretation of the 2000 study has been disputed by the study's main researcher.) PFOX has publicly promoted ex-gay therapy in the past, despite the fact that the American Psychological Association condemned such practices as being "based on a view of homos-xuality that has been rejected by all the major mental health professions." Some who have seen the billboard on I-95 expressed their disgust to WWBT. "We do not know why people are heteros-xual," Bill Harrison with the Richmond Gay Community told the network. "Maybe when we figure that out, we can determine why some people are not. What we do know is that this type of therapy has caused many people to commit suicide." A representative for PFOX was not immediately available for comment. LGBTQ Nation spoke with a rep for Lamar Advertising Company, which owns the billboard, and the company said PFOX's stance “is not a reflection of our company’s views.†The billboard is set to run through Jan. 4. Economy 52,861
well, all kinds of evidence suggest s-xual preferences is biological AND influenced by your mind So being gay can be influenced by birth (genetics) but environment can also I believe it makes perfect sence that mroe than 1 thing can influence it. theres no reason to assume it has to all be the same cause. in any case, their group is dumb
Morphine Prince 109,683
It's interesting that s-xual orientation is still under research. There doesn't seem to be one thing that makes a person a certain orientation. I've always thought it was a combination of genetic, environmental, and hormonal factors that played into it. But it is definitely not a choice.

Economy 52,861
It's interesting that s-xual orientation is still under research. There doesn't seem to be one thing that makes a person a certain orientation. I've always thought it was a combination of genetic, environmental, and hormonal factors that played into it. But it is definitely not a choice. all of this. s-xual desires is a biological thing of nature. so its reasonable to assume genetics play a role but at the same time (especially in humans), our minds play a big role in what we find attractive. Trends in culture seem to influence us in what we find attractive in things like booty size, hair style etc etc etc so why cant our minds have an impact on the s-x we prefer? especially since the emptional connection part of it is very much a mental aspect id say its 30% genetics and 70% psychological if i had to guess. but i agree its not a choice regardless

Benji 20,113
I find it weird how in America you can openly discriminate against people but you can't swear on television or radio :air: Anyway, I hope someone defaces it with a more equality driven message.
