Adele has a very grating tone with shrill tendencies and she frequently bails out on high notes by riffing to compensate. Hearing Gaga belting out stuff like You And I live is astounding and is something Adele couldn't do in her wildest dreams. Adele pushes her voice beyond its natural capacity, so she always has this strained tone. She doesn't have the lung capacity, likely induced by her heavy smoking and aversion to exercise (Gaga may smoke too, but not as heavily, and she exercises a lot, which increases her lung capacity). Don't you find it odd that Tony Bennett has sung with so many big names, but not Adele? Even though she's been the most obvious choice for a collab? Maybe it's because he reckons her voice isn't all that. Above all, Gaga hasn't suffered throat problems due to her singing whereas Adele has endured very serious throat problems that nearly claimed her voice for good. You only get vocal chord issues if you're not singing correctly. Either Adele doesn't have a vocal coach or the one she's got isn't very good, because her technique is terrible. Even after she came back from her operation that nearly robbed her of her voice, she was still using the same technique. Goodness knows how much longer she'll be able to sing for if she keeps this up. I don't think anyone who suffers such extreme vocal problems is a singer we should be praising and emulating.
