You would think this story would be national news but here we are with this story trying to be covered up by the police department threatening media outlets and citizens there who are recording the incidents. The only way Ive been truly informed of what has been going on the past few days in regards to all of this has been through my twitter. It truly is a damn shame this happened and it also kind of sucks how the peaceful protests turned into riots and looting because it shifted away the attention from the murder to the chaos. And no, as always we aren't saying all cops are bad, but the truth is all cops are in a position of power over regular civilians and most cops use this power with such foolishness that they shoot a 17 year old kid 10 times...I mean for what?

The only major sources I'm getting to update this thread is though verified twitter accounts as well. Whenever I switched to CNN or MSNBC, they would report on the looting/riots rather than the peaceful protests. They did interview the victim's parents and their attorney, though. It's just a shame. :fail:

The only thing I can say is that the reason we aren't getting any info is because they are keeping everything to themselves there. A journalist via twitter said Police are telling journalists to leave the area or be ready to get arrested, so things are being kept under wraps. The city is a no-fly zone at the moment, too. It's weird. Looks like the only way we'll find out more is through twitter journalists with verified accounts.

Police also have their cars blocking the entrance warning outsiders to leave or be arrested.

This is one of my biggest issues with this whole situation (apart form the obvious one being the cop killing an innocent guy). Nobody is talking about this in a national scale because it's being kept under wraps and the ones that do know either are outraged like we are or they keep dismissing this issue as "the kid shouldn't have ran from police...etc". They don't see the big picture here.

Chills. I can't even fathom what that must feel like.

How horrible for any parent or grand parent... :(

Why the hell do cops need guns nowadays when they have nonlethal ways to disarm suspects, like tazers or pepper spray. I understand when they are dealing with armed suspects, but I hate how cops are so trigger happy with unarmed people... Cops have too much power and that **** goes to their head. Just the fact that they won't release the cop's name that did this is suspicious. I know they want to protect him from death threats, but this dude needs to be taken to internal affairs and be tried for murder if there was up indeed no reasonable cause to shoot a child. I heard the same attorney that represented Trayvon will work on Brown's case.

Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Here's a few photos to show what's going on in Ferguson.

What? It was on all the national news stations and has had several long segments on CNN. It's been on the front page of yahoo for a couple of days. I've seen the story on morning news, local news, National news, CNN and on several homepages.

CNN Newsroom at 7:00 CT had a segment that reported on the peaceful protests.

They also interviewed the other young man who was involved in the altercation. Interestingly enough, NO ONE in charge asked for HIS STORY! Until today, no one had asked him to come in and give an account of his version of the events. THAT, in and of itself, sent up several red flags in my mind. The local police have just now asked him to drop by, at his convenience, to give his report of what he says happened.

My father is a police officer in a county 45 minutes from here. I'm a little offended by people generalizing all officers as bad in this thread. He has been an officer for over 30 years and had never fired his weapon so please don't act as though all officers are crooked because they most certainly are not.

This was unfortunate, but don't generalize all officers because of this one.

This, MOST officers of the law take an oath and work very hard to uphold that oath  ...Every once in a while you hear of the crooked ones, which there are many... but ive seen no one on GGD (or anywhere really) actually praise a police officer, or speak kindly of one. Its a thankless job. People want you when you need them, and treat you like **** when they dont. I never see or hear anyone that will try to find a story where a police officer did something great. Because they do all the time, it's a shame these terrible, crooked, awful ones get all the media attention and make law enforcement officers everywhere (even at federal level) look bad :emo:
