Lum 347
Exactly... same for "*******" which originally was a term for cigarettes... and the word ratchet is not the issue at hand... the issue is him thinking all black people dresses a certain way... He either has no black friends or he HONESTLY believes what he's saying... You MUST be joking right now.
NathanC 938
I corrected you on the sub-issue here that you were arguing and you deflected it by agreeing with me to go back to the original topic. You contradicted yourself; you said ratchet wasn't a term associated with black people, rather, that it is with thugs in general. I was blatantly disagreeing with you until you chose to take my side to distract from the lack of validity in your argument and continue with the general issue at hand. And I'm agreeing with you... like the cig, ratchet is no longer associated with black people... it's a term for ghetto people... The general issue at hand IS him thinking black people dressing a certain way...

The general issue at hand IS him thinking black people dressing a certain way... The point is, you said ratchet wasn't a term associated with ratchet people, and when I disagreed with you, you ended up agreeing with me anyway, which contradicts your point. Now you're just trying to get back to the general issue to distract from your lost argument

You lost the sub-argument and deflected it by agreeing with me to move on to the regular argument. Honestly, if your sub-argument regarding the usage and terminology of the word 'ratchet' is anything to go by in terms of the the amount of fallacies in the main argument you're presenting, there's no need to take this seriously anymore. DrewStevens 5,249
Just because a word was coined and put in Internet dictionaries and encyclopedia for its meaning doesn't mean that it can't develop new ones. Ratchet is a term used offensively against African Americans regardless of its dictionary meaning, just as 'gay' was not synonymous with 'homos-xual' until people made it that way from originally just being synonymous with 'happy" or 'joyful'. Ratchet is not really commonly a term used offensively against African Americans. Most "ratchet" people is black, but not most black people are ratchet, that's why the word may be associated with black people. The term ratchet unlike other slangs was created by black people and it was not a derogatory word. The term "gay" used for homos-xuals is not a synonymous of happy or joyful. In the 19th century the word "gay man" referred to someone who slept with a lot of women, but in the 20th century it started to refer to men who had s-x with other men. Sadly the term is focused in their supposedly promiscuity and not so much in their happiness.

DrewStevens 5,249
Jet Black · Top Commenter What's racist is EVERYONE who says that because you are wearing chains you are black! That's whose racist. The dress code is just that. A dress code! To say its racist stipulates YOU are racist if you are assuming a certain colored person ONLY wears chains, collarless shirts. I say CHECK YOURSELF! That's like saying Target doesn't allow guns in its store, how racist. You can only play that card soooo much!?! DrewStevens 5,249
no one said that anyone who says someone said that can't read worth **** Coded language: "You might as well say, 'No black folks allowed,'" Sean Tierney told Fox 9 News he believes it's "totally racial profiling," "If you do not want African Americans to frequent your establishment, then maybe you should just say that and not just break it down to the dress code," And you can't just insult anyone who doesn't agree with your ideas, that's not how a discussion works. Willy Wonka 4
Coded language: And you can't just insult anyone who doesn't agree with your ideas, that's not how a discussion works. I was wrong. It is late and I got confused and for some reason, I thought people were commenting on this thread. Probably a sign I should go to bed. I forgot there was an actual news article My bad. If they were commenting on this thread though, I would have been right I didn't intend to insult you whatsoever. Sorry.
