A person's manners are "their outward bearings," comprised of ways of living, habits of people/class, a way of behaving (and dressing), and a series of standards. Quoted directly from Dictionary.com. If you dress like a slob and act impolitely, those are mannerisms which define your manners. I'm shocked that you're actually trying to challenge that fact. Because it's not. So if I wear my flat rimmed hat tomorrow, I'll be targeted for being a slob or a criminal??? We don't even have black people where I live and still everyone was wearing those stupid flatbill caps, chains and baggy pants. It is by no means exclusive to "black people", saying that is racist. That kind of dress does not fit the desired image of their restaurant. In the UK there are lots of stores that have a "no hoodies" policy. I suppose that's racist! Since when did this imply good/bad black? How about class or no class? It's as simple as that. What does having class mean though? It means dressing like a white person. I wish some of you were Black in an all-white environment for a day. You would not survive and would be trying to get out of your skin. It's so funny, even when us black men are dressing and acting "right" to White standards, we're still a threat to society. This thread is comical. If you automatically assume that this is targeted towards african americans, then maybe YOU'RE the one using racial profiling. Seems like you're the racist... Ok, we aren't here to call each other racists. The main point is that some person called out the dress code list racist. And we're discussing the fact whether or not that that person had the justification of doing so. I for one do not want to think it is racist, yet we ALL know that certain parts of society/media like to display black men, who are seen as criminals, and correlate it with that type of dress.
