Willy Wonka 4
AKA black people who follow the "white" rules and black people who don't. Ooh ****, this is a complicated issue. Exactly. If black people don't assimilate to white standards (aka "class"), then they're obviously "ghetto" and "hoodrats" and "gangstas" according to members in this thread and are unworthy of being able to patronize such an establishment. Gov Hooka 8,008
Weak argument. Especially when it comes to race. That argument has been used to oppress blacks for decades. very much applicable to this situation though. I think you guys are injecting too much of your own thoughts into this. Either way, just follow the dress code. is it that hard? otherwise don't eat there.

Anomaly 161
So you associate improper manners with how people dress? I might as well call all the Monsters who dress for the artRave sluts because they sometimes come with minimal clothing. By definition, yes. A person's manners are "their outward bearings," comprised of ways of living, habits of people/class, a way of behaving (and dressing), and a series of standards. Quoted directly from Dictionary.com. If you dress like a slob and act impolitely, those are mannerisms which define your manners. I'm shocked that you're actually trying to challenge that fact. Gov Hooka 8,008
AKA black people who follow the "white" rules of our society and black people who don't. Easy way out. This isn't addressing the issue, this is just pushing it away. Exactly. If black people don't assimilate to white standards (aka "class"), then they're obviously "ghetto" and "hoodrats" and "gangstas" according to members in this thread and are unworthy of being able to patronize such an establishment. I just repeated the argument you guys made to my friend right now who is black, and she doesn't believe an ounce of whatever y'all are saying. There is such a thing as decorum and proper dress. Goosey 3,017
But see, they didn't. They went for common items of a specific race. This is by no means a standard dress code. Anyone who says otherwise is full of ****. We don't even have black people where I live and still everyone was wearing those stupid flatbill caps, chains and baggy pants. It is by no means exclusive to "black people", saying that is racist. That kind of dress does not fit the desired image of their restaurant. In the UK there are lots of stores that have a "no hoodies" policy. I suppose that's racist! Lots of bars and other establishments have similar policies: "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. Trump

No I just think it's funny and somewhat interesting that someone who is black doesn't find an ounce of proper logic in the statement you just typed. Since when did this imply good/bad black? How about class or no class? It's as simple as that.
Lum 347
I just repeated the argument you guys made to my friend right now who is black, and she doesn't believe an ounce of whatever y'all are saying. There is such a thing as decorum and proper dress. Don't use your "black friend" to justify your argument. Oldest trick in the book. Just because she's black doesn't mean she's educated on the complicated issue of racism in this society. Our whole system is based on white people being superior to people of color. And letting "small things like this bar's dress code" pass under the radar keeps this trend going.

Since when did this imply good/bad black? How about class or no class? It's as simple as that. I studied this in college. This is right in my wheelhouse. These issues are issues I know well. If she isn't educated on them, that's not my problem. Back to the issue, who dictates what "class" is? Black Asian, or white, no one should be allowed in a nice club dressing ratchet... sorry, this isnt racism... DeleteMyAccount 11,881
You don't have to explicitly say it to imply it. It says nothing about black people, white people, Asian people. And you don't need to wear a suit and tie at Bar Louie's. I never said it did. I meant that you don't have to be of a certain race to be targeted. Lets look at this list. No sleeveless undershirts? So I can't wear a tank under my dress shirt? Their own website has pics of men in tanks. Baggy clothing. I guess that excludes all the business men with terrible sense of fitted pants and women with flowing shirts. Large chains. The last time I checked, large chains were in style. No athletic apparel. So I'm guessing they show American Idol and Modern Family during the World Cup while the sport fans leave their teams jersey at home. Which is odd because they've recently been advertising people to wear casual sports gear to come watch. Again the list is stupid and is obviously not showcasing any type of high class but ignorance.
