Prometheus 1,494
I'm in a tough place. My religious beliefs are basically Christian at the foundation, but I believe that the Bible is mostly just metaphors and stories in order to teach what people back then believed. We wear clothing of mixed fabrics. We eat shellfish. We masturbate. Do I think those things will send someone to hell? Of course not. Do I think that someone will go to hell for believing in another god? No, because what about the people who are never introduced to Christianity? Would God really damn trillions of people throughout history for not believing in something they had no knowledge of? Psh. No. I also believe in non-Christian supernatural things, such as spirits, psychics, auras, chakras, and such. Also, by default basically, I believe in demons. Do I believe in demonic possession? Perhaps. I don't know. I think 95% of the cases in the past were just misunderstood mental disorders. In fact my past preacher told me that my Tourettes was caused by demonic possession. Uh. No. I think that perhaps this is an okay thing. I am only worried because people might be searching for an exorcist instead of a doctor. Please do not quote me and bash my beliefs. I just want to put my thoughts out there.
garnite 8
I think that perhaps this is an okay thing. I am only worried because people might be searching for an exorcist instead of a doctor. that is exactly what happens with this. people have died and suffered with no reprieve because of these crackpot beliefs historically. mentally ill people are treated as possessed and don't get the help they so desperately need. that's why it's not okay. there's no evidence for possession but there is absolutely concrete evidence for mental illness and delusion. Glow 0
Good. If there's one thing I've learned from horror movies, it's that most people don't believe in the supernatural and the value of exorcisms - until they actually need them, that is. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it! The Devil's hands are play, every day - we need Men of God to combat the Forces of Darkness. All of your posts here have been a mess. First the glorifying killing innocent animals for fun and now this BS.
ryhanna 3,507
It's quite frightening that we're bringing back a medieval practice that has like, zero merit to it. Some things need to stay in the past.
