"My assistant is one of my best friends. I'm not a diva, in any sense of the word"
Ironic since her assistant ended up suing her for that very reason   :fan:

And man was she naive. I thought she studied the art of fame. This makes me worried because she was clearly not prepared for all the backlash she's gotten in recent years. I hope she's not taking  it to personally and becomes jaded/bitter....

Subconsciously, people's opinions of the music get colored by its chart success or how the media perceives it.

I'm with you, I think ARTPOP had some of her best work on it and I am determined to remember that regardless of how this era went down.

This, entirely.

From her answers it appears that she used to think it wouldn't get this bad because she always tries to do good. "karma".

"I mean, they've tried everything. But they haven't done it. When they start saying that you have extra appendages, you have to assume that they're unable to destroy you."

They haven't destroyed her, true, but the media has had a major effect on her popularity and success. I don't think she realiised the lengths the media and haters could go to.

This, basically. She sounds like she thought that was as bad as it gets. After some of her beloved team and fans turned on her, well, that's another level that no one can prepare for.

Didn't she mention the decay of the blonde pop star ages ago though?

Take my hand. Stay, Joanne.

Exactly.

I live outside the space time continuum.

That interview looks like she had no idea what was going to happen with Born This Way, and obviously not with ARTPOP. The media always does that, I agree, but Gaga was already working on Born This Way at that time, but she had no idea it'd have such amount of backlash and controversy. Maybe she knew that album would sell a million copies because it was her first big release after her peak, but I don't think she KNEW what was coming.

As for ARTPOP, I also think she had no idea all of this would happen. ARTPOP was actually supposed to fix and be the "Phoenix rising from the ashes" that the media burned with Born This Way. Now, she's not as HUGE as she was during The Fame Monster, but people just don't care about her anymore at this point, she's not the "It girl" anymore, and I'm happy with that. I like that she makes good quality music, and she should focus on that. I don't see why people always want Gaga to be on top of the charts all the time, it's exhausting.

She actually looks like she thought she'd stay at the top during that time. She had no idea some of her friends would betray her and all of that drama that has happened these last 3 years.

I definitely believe she planned her future era's all the way back before The Fame. Listen to Just Dance's "got my blueprint" in the bridge lyrics (her first single, and the song that launched her into a superstar). She also brought up the "Born This Way" title all the way in early 2010 (or was it late 2009)?

Did she predict her decline? Hard to say. Her decline started in January 2011 when Born This Way was released. The entire era was successful from the huge hype TF and TFM made however slowly unravelled throughout the era, but now that the hype is gone, there's not much to push ARTPOP.

Perhaps she didn't expect her future albums to go down so badly. Really not sure.

But really, how can anyone 100% know what is going to happen? I mean with BTW - obviously she likd it, but that doesn't mean everyone else will - same with ARTPOP - you can't control the GP and what other people like. Plus there's always other external things that happen beyond our personal control too (such as the betrayals and sh*t).

This is one extract from one interview.

Clearly, in this extract she doesn't predict the backlash she'd get later in her career. For all we know, she could have been drunk or high in this interview and was just speaking nonsense. I'm pretty sure she didn't expect to stay on top forever.

Except the backlash isn't 'random' or 'for no reason'. It's directly correlated to the decline in quality. This would be valid if she was still serving flawless videos/performances/songs/etc like during the Paparazzi/Bad Romance days.

That's why there is a 'backlash'. With Gaga's case, the media is not to blame.

She was prepared for nothing, this whole theory of Gaga knowing exactly what she's doing and predicting her own career is false and silly.

It's like they predicted the BTW drama :deadbanana:

Seriously though, her responses show that she was not prepared for what they were talking about. She didn't answer the questions directly, either becuase she didn't understand them or becuase she didn't even want to think about that.

This.
