Birthday is also one of the fastest rising songs on top 40 radio.. the media/radio/industry wants katy to be the new lady gaga/queen of pop.. no matter what she does.. it'll happen.. because it is what will allow for more generic easy money making hits to succeed on radio.. risky/innovative hurts the clones This is my beef with Katy Perry. I'd be all here for her success if she was actually doing something great to deserve greatness. Instead she's taking ideas and watering them down into harmless, pretty visuals that say absolutely nothing. She IS the perfect pop star, but I'm beginning to see that pop was never something I should be wasting my time with. Pop, by definition, caters to the masses. It follows the masses. If the masses found about Katy using Katy Keene, nobody would care because it seems so obvious that it must be intentional. She could just say, "yep, the truth is I used to read these as a kid and I wanted to recreate my favorite character through my costumes! That's not a big deal at all. It would've been a big deal if it was Gaga. For the media AND for her fans, whether or not the Katy Keene **** is actually intentional. I guarantee there would've been people threatening to leave the fan base or starting threads about how they're disappointed. Why? Because Gaga is a truly creative person and people are on the lookout for anything that can discredit that.
