Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's already acclaimed movie A Star Is Born made its second festival debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday, and, much like in Venice, was met with universal acclaim from critics.

"A Star is Born moved me, emotionally, like no other film I’ve ever seen. A truly remarkable cinematic achievement that left me crying in the theatre through the entire ending credits," film critic Kevin McCarthy wrote, while Kevin Polowy of Yahoo! added: "Those chills we get from the trailer were not a drill, there’s plenty to go around in the movie, too, namely every time Gaga starts singing."

The early word on A STAR IS BORN is that indeed the title is accurate. The name of this star? Lady Gaga. You'll be hearing more about this young actress when the Oscar nominations are announced in January. Bank on it.

Just experienced a film that is beyond words. Never been moved like that in the cinema. Sat thru credits crying. Lights came up. Security guard asked me if I was ok & offered me napkins.

A STAR IS BORN: I will not be mad if Bradley Cooper gets nominated for 5 Oscars. I will be mad if Lady Gaga doesn’t get nominated for Best Actress. #TIFF18

Cooper's A STAR IS BORN is a moving, muwical, extremely well executed variation on a story sung with same 12 notes numerous times. Inclusion of @ladygaga is inspired, her own story reflected in the narrative in ways that inject an even higher level of impact. #tiff18

A Star Is Born is phenomenal. A trenchant critique of the modern pop machinery, and also a beautiful portrait of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper adopting a dog.

So ‘A Star Is Born’ is the real deal. First 45 minutes are rapturous, but the craft throughout is terrific. Gaga is spectacular, and Cooper is absolutely a director. Incredibly emotional. #TIFF18

A STAR IS BORN: oh no... it’s fantastic. I could not have been more skeptical, and yet this worked on me real, real good. Lady Gaga is [insert hyperbole of choice].

Bradley Cooper can direct a movie!! A STAR IS BORN is a movie filled with emotional authenticity and fueled by the amazing acting of Cooper, Lady Gaga, and Sam Elliott. #TIFF18 pic.twitter.com/tdjCXnrnfW

A STAR IS BORN is an endearing, sweet puppy dog of a movie, but Lady Gaga charges through it like a nuclear bomb. #tiff

A STAR IS BORN: Reader, I cried, and they were big fat movie tears that rolled down my cheeks with perfect timing. That was a full meal. #TIFF18

A STAR IS BORN: Those chills we get from the trailer were not a drill, there’s plenty to go around in the movie, too, namely every time Lady Gaga starts singing. She shines pretty damn bright, and Bradley Cooper has never been better. #TIFF

I was reluctant to buy into the hype for A STAR IS BORN but damn. What a gut punch. #tiff18

I’d like to formally apologise for ever doubting that Lady Gaga is absolutely out of this world. A STAR IS BORN celebrates the woman, as it should - along with every noble ambition of love and music and patience and loyalty, bursting with pain and wonder #TIFF18

It’s gonna be fun knowing “A Star Is Born” is undeniable and watching it win over skeptics one by one this season. I was one of them. Could not have gone in with more of a “show me” attitude.

happy to report A Star Is Born is really good and Gaga is fantastic. the way it deals with addiction, and especially the tumultuous experience of loving someone through their addiction, really got to me. also great bathtub scenes #tiff18
