Lobster Boy 1
You can either look at it all like this a) gay stans are generally loyal, cher/kylie/madonna etc.....so by saying all this, gaga's got sales for lyf b) she really does care abut the gays and really does cater for them c) shes not thinking before she speaks tbqh...alienating far too many people in the process. bumblebee 2,528
Im wondering the same thing. I've nvr seen it before This! I've googled it and this quote dates back to as early as 2009. What was the point of raising this topic now?
HausOfGuy 10
well she's where she is because of the gays, so i understand why she would honor the LGBT community. and btw, don't start with the "she's excluding her straight fans" bull****... Most of the music industry excludes the LGBT community so don't be a party pooper.
RAMROD 109,709
She probably doesn't meant the way you think it is. She just want to fvck people up because she doesn't need to be all Gandhi about it. PoshLife 16,998
Poor you feeling alienated from a pop star for exactly the length of time it took you to read that. You have no idea what real alienation is like. She was saying this because people thought her music was "too gay" - her point was that being gay wasn't a bad thing. Nobody ever talks about "straight music" being bad. You just don't know what it's like, period, and I definitely don't sympathize with your so-called "straight alienation." We should all be so alienated.

whytennis 0
If I recall correctly, this quote was from a few years back when Gaga was supposed to go on tour with Kanye. She said this in response to a question whether she would tone down her act to cater to the hip hop fans in the audience, assuming they might be hostile to her music's gay appeal. So she isn't saying her music is just for the gays. She's saying her music and her image have a tremendous gay influence and she wasn't going to act like a cookie cutter, straight pop queen (a la Katy Perry) just because she was going on tour with Kanye. Scotty 87
I don't think she meant it as a literal thing, I think she just meant it as I'm not going to stop being so flamboyant and theatrical but used the word gay to make a statement.
VforVendetta 2,024
I'm straight and I feel alienated, but I know she didn't mean it to the level where I should be bothered. This. What she meant from this whole quote is that she isn't ashamed to to admit that she is openly supporting Gay rights and she doesn't want to put it a label to cover it. She is clearing it out. (at least this is how I get it).
Dean Winchester 197
This! I've googled it and this quote dates back to as early as 2009. What was the point of raising this topic now? I did the same and found out it was a quote from a magazine where she was saying what she said to Kanye before agreeing to go on tour with him. This is the link https://www.glaad.org/2009/08/14/lady-gaga-im-gay-my-music-is-gay-my-show-is-gay I have no idea why this topic is being brought back now

squeala 875
This doesn't mean that she specifically panders to gay people, or that she only wants to make songs that will get played in gay clubs. It means that she refuses to collaborate with homophobes and she refuses to design her art for the masses.
RedandBlue 287
I absolutely hate when she labels her music like this. I obviously know that the fanbase is hugely gay, but it makes straight fans like myself feel alienated in a way. I think this is what made her lose so many hardcore followers back in TFM days. Back then, everyone and their grandmother loved Gaga and knew many of her songs, yet she still pushed how her fans are the gays. This doesn't make me stop stanning for her in the slightest, but it's very annoying how she makes that assumption.
