VforVendetta 2,024
Wow ! Why is it growing so fast ? :oThe song is rising but the songs around it are also falling a lot so we shouldn't get our hopes up a lot.
craig 680
Part of the reason why I want the next album (the one after cheek to cheek and Act II) to be completely acoustic full of ballads produced by Rick Rubin. Ballads never get old and run out of fashion. A lot of pop fans find ballads boring. Especially typical radio friendly love ballads. Both Katy and Miley flopped with Uncle and Adore You. By late 2015 the slow boring music trend might be getting stale too.

izlazaz 0
I think it's a lost battle to start this again but can we all agree that the current chart success or lack thereof is because of Gaga herself and not the music? It seems like every time I bring it up someone jumps down my throat but as Jhony correctly said Applause, DWUW, and GUY (the latter not really in my opinion) sound like hits that could resonate with the public. Sure the first two were hits (DWUW on its way before it was mismanaged). If we agree about this, then could anyone suggest ways in which Gaga could overcome this and have better chart success?I think that is a good discussion for this thread instead of meltdowns and posting meaningless jumps or drops in positions so far. And since it's directly chart related I didn't ask this in the Random thread. I agree that the current chart situation is Gaga (the persona) related, rather than music related. I think Gaga's self-promotional insistence upon linking her music to a philosophical stance that (according to her) was going to elevate ARTPOP into the realms of the iconic (reverse Warholian effects notwithstanding) alienated all but her steadfast fans. However earnest her inquiry into pop, fashion and celebrity as legitimate performance art phenomena, Gaga lost human touch with the general public. Her exploration didn't make people feel uncomfortable with a truth revealed, say, that concerned them and their worlds of beliefs and actions. Her antics at the ARTPOP launch, for example, made people feel uncomfortable with her self-absorption. Her various staged appearances wearing stage costume (including stage nudity) were not alarming or mysterious. She came across as devoted to a meaningless self-sensationalism. ARTPOP itself was not full of creative rebellion, originality or innovation lyrically or musically. Its themes were not new, cohesive or indeed coherent. It warranted its metacritic score of around 64%, on a par with other concurrent pop diva albums. It should therefore have obtained as much chart and sales advantage as they did (and do) but the public cannot read Gaga's stagey persona, they are repelled by her lack of warmth, and they think she has come to believe that her talent is infallible. Many of her fans seem to think that too. Fame can have that effect. But hey, as Gaga pointed out to Perez, she is a star. She is incredibly wealthy and can afford to think and act however she likes. She has a loyal fanbase. ARTPOP has sold well enough, and who cares if it has not 'slayed'. Naysayers and doom-merchants can go sulk in a corner. She is getting ready to take the touring stage and THAT is her first love!
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Gagas promo is **** this era One single didn't even have a video, another got one late night performance that no one watched. She has NOT even performed in France, Germany, or Australia. That's inexcusable on her part and simply lazy. Yes, lazy. She has been lazy this era. You and most here seem to forget the fact that she had serious issues with her manager and that their separation happened in October/November which is when the album got out... Gaga is everything BUT lazy...
Gypsy Life 118,907
Gypsy would have been massive, even though I hate that song. Not massive, but it could've been (actually still could be if they don't **** everything up and end the era) an Applause-sized hit.

MonsterMum 2,532
Gypsy would have been massive, even though I hate that song. It will be big if it ever gets released. For the long term planning I hope they do cause it might catch her a break for a new record to start off on a higher note then she did with ARTPOP. Dean Winchester 197
A lot of pop fans find ballads boring. Especially typical radio friendly love ballads. Both Katy and Miley flopped with Uncle and Adore You. By late 2015 the slow boring music trend might be getting stale too. But the difference is gaga is a powerhouse vocalist unlike katy and miley. If gaga did an acoustic album, i think it'll have a chance of being on the level of Adele's 21. Pop fans may be bored, but i think the GP will be here for that from gaga. You may be right, but I think it'd be nice breather from dance music for gaga.
VforVendetta 2,024
Plus Gaga had the advantage coming from the smash TFM era with the release of BTW. ARTPOP had an uphill battle from the get go, coming from the BTW and her hip black out. I think this is what he means. The music is great but the album had to overcome a lot of struggles. Stefani328 321
Plus Gaga had the advantage coming from the smash TFM era with the release of BTW. ARTPOP had an uphill battle from the get go, coming from the BTW and her hip black out. Plus, even though BTW sold very well and the music was fantastic with an amazing tour, it was the era that helped damage her image. Some fans may not agree, but just ask anyone that was a Gaga fan during her first two eras. They will tell you, what turned them away from being a Gaga fan and they will say the preachiness/weirdness of the BTW era. Her entire image.
