Question about meeting Gaga in NYC

the fans that just met her on twitter are mad because the background was in the pics and now people can tell where to go.. In all honesty, NO SHADE, why do they make such an effort to keep anyone else from meeting her? I understand the snowball effect, but not that many people are willing to scour the city looking for an identical billboard to the one in a picture....

Idealistically, it would be to prevent Gaga from being overrun and harassed. But in truth it's probably a little more selfish than that.

it's the same in the UK, fans are possessive and will do anything to prevent people other than their own select group from being close to Gaga

We also have the right to meet Gaga and talk to her, I really don't get it

I actually posted a rant post on my facebook today :rip: Somewhat relevant, you might find it interesting

I feel like I'm the only person (or one of few) who finds it kind of saddening that being a part of fan/'Stan' culture has become completely and wholly orientated around the 'selfie'. I'm not trying to dictate or call out particular people with this but surely if you get those precious 10-30 seconds of meeting your idol you would use it for something more personal than getting out your phone and getting another photo?
I completely understand that having a photo with your idol is a dream come true, I mean obviously it would be hypocritical for me to say otherwise, but when I met my idol I actually made her smile, I got something signed and I even spoke to her a little bit. The 'selfie' was literally the least of my priorities, because in a years time when I look back on meeting her, would I rather be thinking 'oh I got a selfie' or 'I managed to have an experience that was more personal than using my front camera'.
It's less about fans who have their first meet with Gaga or their first concert, because when you've never even been within meters of Gaga just being so close is almost overwhelming. I get that having a photo is a really special thing. But....what if you already have multiple selfies? You wanna spend six days sitting in the cold or the rain to get....six selfies? Wouldn't you rather attempt to make your experience a little more personal once you've already got a ton of beautiful photos?
Maybe I'm just envious or maybe I've been left behind and meeting your idols isn't about the memory anymore but it's about the materialistic things and competition between fans. If you've got a ton of selfies with Gaga that's great for you and all but personally I find it disappointing that a selfie is what the fan experience is about. I have tried so so many times to meet Gaga and have sat outside hotels, concert venues and even Harrods and have met Gaga once. Is spending all that time worth it for a photo when I could write letters and make art and give her gifts that are personal?
Another thing that saddens me is the amount of respect a fan gets for having selfies, I mean the more you have the more other fans will accept you, which is ironic because that's completely not about what Gaga stands for. I have witnessed bullying of fans that haven't met Gaga by ones who have multiple times, in fact in some cases I've been a victim of it. Is that really what being a fan of an artist has become? We're obsessed with the acceptance and attention from other people instead of being obsessed with the music and the superstar and the performance.

At the end of the day, it's your choice to camp out and what you do with your time is completely up to you. I just feel like 'super fans' aren't necessarily the richest ones or the ones who camp the longest, but the fans who really care about that special experience.

TL;DR meeting fabulous people shouldn't be about the photo but about the memory, and paps will take higher quality photos anyway! Appreciate your opportunities. Do you want to be that fan who asks for the same things that a million other fans have already asked for? *again this isn't aimed at a specific person or group, it's just general behaviour I've picked up on and food for thought*

... and the same in France. There was a real outrage amongst the French LM community when Gaga came here for the Versace show, because only a handful of fans somehow managed to know she was coming, and when the rumor started spreading, they were sending fans in wrong directions. Like saying she was staying at her regular hotel, the Park Hyatt, while she actually was staying at Le Bristol this time, and they knew it.

yep, sadly that doesn't surprise me. I've heard stories of the 'superior' fans lying about Gaga's location to 10 year old kids who just wanna meet their idol on the only time they have off from school. for the sake of a selfie.

that was beautiful

haha thank you

Once Roseland shows start EVERYONE will know where she is so i dont know why they're bothering "hiding" her location. They're just extremely selfish and get mad when others meet her by saying "you shouldn't be at her hotel bla bla bla" when they're always there.
