HauntingHollow 4,310
Her vocals sound more like those on BTW, which was recorded in 2010 so i guess, it was written and recorded at the end of 2010, maybe early 2011.... You can not hide if nobody pays attention to you :*
Burger 307
It's confusing too because "Seven years of bad luck" is such an already common phrase in literature, movies etc...
DanceInTheFlames 154
She could have easily changed the number of years while she was re-working it for ARTPOP lol.
Schizophonic 7,015
she first performed you and i in summer 2010. she might wrote it in spring. "6 whole years" who knows when their aniversary is. maybe it turned 7 until the end of the year...
Celina 118
I don't know where she said that? Anyway I remember she was really mad after their break up, performed You & I with middle finger, "this song is about nobody" etc. He was treating her like ****. I think it's nice how Gypsy and Dope could have double meaning - love for Taylor and love for her fans, while Luc inspired songs are clearly only about him. And it bothers me, when I read the lyrics, like she was faking her feelings with Taylor and wanted to cheat him with Luc - "one last time". I remember there was even rumour on twitter long time ago, but I don't want to believe she's like that. She's obviously happy with Taylor... she would never do that. The lyrics do not imply cheating on him with Luc. If anything, this song seems like it seals their break up for good, even though it obviously affected her deeply. I think you misunderstood the lyrics...

rivingtonreject 2
Just because the song says 7 years instead of 6 doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't written in 2010. That lyric could have been changed She may have first written it in 2010 or even early 2011 and not have used it on BTW but decided to work on it again for ARTPOP and re-wrote some of the lyrics Hypothetically, even if that was a mere lyric change to 7 years, do you really think she could tell the future about how she would feel about their breakup? She just magically knew ahead of time that when they broke up, it was going to be for that particular reason and that she'd be pining for one more night? The breakup had to happen for this song to even be written

"6 whole years" who knows when their aniversary is. maybe it turned 7 until the end of the year... This too. Who the hell knew when she first actually wrote You and I. The number of years represented in the songs are completely irrelevant when it comes to telling us when those songs first came to fruition, because she most likely changed them as they became finalized for both the albums. Also how can we be sure how accurate the lyrics are to Gaga's life. Just because she wrote and sings them doesn't mean it happened exactly as it did lol. I'm sure she's embellished a few times to make a story of a song more compelling or flow better.

rivingtonreject 2
And for everyone saying "well it sounds like (blank) era".... As for the vocals, her singing voice actually has quite the range. If she wants to sing in a low register, she can. If she does not want to, she doesn't. Idk what interview, but I specifically remember that she did not know if bad romance would be a hit because she sung it in a much lower register than her previous works. Then when she released telephone, her voice had "reverted" back to it's earlier sound. I put reverted in quoted because it was not a true reversion, but instead a choice to song in a register that she wanted to do for that particular song. And as for the vibe/style of the song, she doesnt automatically lose the ability to write a certain type of song after an album release. She wrote the songs on each album, if she feels like writing a song in a style she's done before she can do it now as easily as when she did it then. Just because she makes an effort to move artistically forward and push herself to write new ways does not mean she is incapable of revisiting things she's done before. This too. Who the hell knew when she first actually wrote You and I. The number of years represented in the songs are completely irrelevant when it comes to telling us when those songs first came to fruition, because she most likely changed them as they became finalized for both the albums. I'm sure she's embellished a few times to make a story of a song more compelling or flow better. in 2010 gaga was 25. she and luc met when she was 19. the "6 whole years" quite is accurate in terms of time. DanceInTheFlames 154
I think the real argument here should be, who cares? The song happened, listen to it. Like it. Hate. Love it. Whatever. Not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a twist about when it was written, because really it isn't important.
Bloody hooker 6,445
I think it was written in 2011 This mutual gaze was a “longing to touch” or a "pre-coitus" stare.
lego 44,165
She's obviously happy with Taylor... she would never do that. The lyrics do not imply cheating on him with Luc. If anything, this song seems like it seals their break up for good, even though it obviously affected her deeply. I think you misunderstood the lyrics... The lyrics imply that in a way IF she wrote them during her relationship with Taylor, for example I want one last night there, A Brooklyn night affair. It's not that I don't wanna love you, It's not that I'm really over it, you know, It's just that I can't watch us bleed to death when we used to be Brooklyn nights happy. It's not that I don't wanna love you, Cause I really tried it I just wanna hang with the old you for just one Brooklyn night'll do, Have a drink with your former self We both won't act like someone else, Maybe then we'd both tell the truth, For just one Brooklyn night'll do You may say she just wants to hang out with him one last time, but words like affair, one night''ll do imply she wants to have s-x with him one last time. I don't want to argue with you, I usually agree with many of your posts, just sharing my opinion. Only she knows the truth. I hope she's over Luc and really happy with Taylor.
