Celina 118
All I'm going to say and don't bash me for this, is that Madonna went in 2012 as part of the MDNA Tour. No one protested, boycotted or lashed out for her going there. Soooooo if she can do it, and not face any persecution for going there by her fans then I don't see why Gaga can't do the same. I don't think anyone is protesting or bashing Gaga for going there. They're just saying it would be helpful for her to take a stand by cancelling, which I'm personally not sure I completely agree with, but it's not anything negative towards Gaga. Jjang 2,262
Sure, I'm going to do my research on each country Gaga is visiting's history and make up excuses for her not to go there, Oh! Gaga should not tour in the US because of the bombing in Iran! Leave politics out of the entertainment world, there has been fans waiting 5-6 years for her to perform and it would be absolutely unfair of her NOT to perform in Israel. She can speak about it and leave her opinion on stage, but she absolutely contributes ZERO support by "canceling" the date, the only result of that would be tens of thousands of disappointed fans. And by the way, Arabs live in Israel too you know, and MANY Arabs are attending the show, maybe not Palestinians, but lets be real here, how many Palestinian fans does she have? That's kind of like saying she shouldn't have visited Russia cause of the laws there. If Israel is not a "normal country, then neither is half of Europe and the USA. If you want to discuss this topic, then discuss it in a manner that doesn't include Gaga, because that's just BEYOND stupid & unfair for the Israeli fans. Plus, if you don't live in Israel, you don't even know the half of it.
phoenixxx 33
It depends on one's stance on boycotting. while I agree with everything written in the OP, there is always some part of me that believes these events also offer a useful platform for raising such issues - for example the way that Madonna used her concert in Russia to talk about the injustices faced by the LGBT community. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnEUMA-nPd4 I think it would be really powerful if Gaga, halfway through her concert, were to start talking about how sad it is that not all of her fans will have been able to attend the concert etc.etc.
gagaisitalian 3,573
Refrain from making non-sensical & obtuse statements on matters you obviously have no knowledge of, so that next time you don't look like a total jerk. I think Mods should close this thread because so many people are making such offensive & uninformed comments, it's sickening! Oh well aren't you just a little activist. Rainbow Unicorn 82
Actually, we don't all live in Israel so... we don't really and all know the situation there Madonna, Rihanna and other provocating females have already performed here in front of big and passionate crowds and there were no problem. So, I don't think there will be problem with Gaga, I'm sure, don't worry. And I think that what is said on this thread is a little bit exaggerated... Israel deserves this concert, no matter politic. Celina 118
Oh well aren't you just a little activist. Sorry, but do you not realize how insensitive it is to make posts like this about something serious?
Leninsdog 3
Do we really need to mix politics in this? Yes, because this is not the fanbase of Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus. We should care about others too, like Palestinians. I'm really disappointed in Gaga when she announced a tour date in Israel.
gagaisitalian 3,573
Sorry, but do you not realize how insensitive it is to make posts like this about something serious? Do you realize I started my conversation with people in this thread with sympathy but they continued to undermine my comments so I gave up. I gave my insight to the situation and they kept acting like they were just little red cross workers flying over to Israel to help the less fortunate. So, don't come at me until you realize who you're talking to.
Mr Josh 3
Yes, because this is not the fanbase of Katy Perry or Miley Cyrus. We should care about others too, like Palestinians. I'm really disappointed in Gaga when she announced a tour date in Israel. and we shouldn't care about israeli fans. ok.
Stefani 25
ARE YOU SERIOUS? You're so antisemic and you make the people here to think that Israel is a third world country, and it's officially NOT! Don't listen to him, he is an idiot and I can say that because he make people think bad things at us! Gaga preformed in Israel in 2009 and the show was great! Just great! You are not a monster cause a monster needs to promote kindness and love to others. The situation here is not as you described here, we know that if we'll accept the palatines they do in the streets bad things and terror, the hate us. You are stupid Can you please DELETE this thread? You are so ignorant, the Israelis are breaching the rights of the Palestinians and you shame the ones who recognise the scandal as anti-semitic, please. Leninsdog 3
and we shouldn't care about israeli fans. ok. I'm not saying that. People are not black and white. However, Israel is killing innocent Palestinians everyday. I'm not even from those countries but that doesn't mean I should stick my head under the ground and ignore. Human rights should always be the PRIORITY. Why Gaga is protesting Russia and not Israel? What does this mean? As long as its not a LGBT issue, then doesn't it matter that much? People here are saying Rihanna and Britney Spears etc made concerts there, what they don't understand is Israel can be the modern Hitler soon. They are trying to eliminate Palestinian race. I don't mind people are thinking differently. But I am really disappointed and sad that people or countries with bad intentions are the ones who are rewarded. We have come a long way to gain human rights, with every minor issue and I don't think any sale or top list chart should be preferred to that. So, don't come at me until you realize who you're talking to. I never said anything about how this started. What I saw was a few people trying to explain why this was a bigger and deeper problem than you were pointing out... and when you make a post like that in response - regardless of who started what - it comes across as if you think it's a laughable situation. I'm sorry if you felt I was being aggressive or if you weren't trying to belittle the issues being discussed.
famous 467
Do NOT close this thread, for once there is a mature discussion of a mature subject that is in a way, related to Gaga, not just teenager sales traumasYup, not gonna close it for this reason. For the most part, this is a mature debate/discussion, which is actually nice to see on here.Having said that, please try to keep it respectful! Most of you are, but just a reminder :). It's possible to have differing opinions without throwing insults.
