Some people find that they'll love themselves more through changing (plastic surgery, make up, wigs, etc), and I think that's okay. Not everyone is going to learn to love themselves and the skin they're in the same way. The same with trans* people's transitions. For this reason I'll never understand why so much negativity is associated with people who undergo plastic surgery. I personally wouldn't care if Gaga underwent plastic surgery but it seems unlikely that she'll do anything drastic as she's already comfortable in her own skin. I don't think it contradicts BTW at all... If anything, I've always thought that the phrase "Born This Way" didn't quite fit perfectly with the message she was spreading, in a way. If she decided to do something when she gets older I would probably say that it's her life and her choice. I don't see here any contradiction with the BTW message.
