giskardsb 12,565
I'll say what I said in the other thread... I enjoyed her interview, she seemed more open and it looks like we were right about her being depressed during the holidays and into the new year. It appears the Troy Carter split really hurt her, though I hope she understands that as artistic and beautiful her platform can be, it is still a business and there are people who go into the industry to score riches. As long as there is that distinction at least under the table, her art will have plenty of room to flourish and she could very well find those she can work with who appreciate her talents and her as a person, not just a money maker. I think she understands the money making part. I think what maybe threw her for a loop is reflected in one comment she made earlier "for some millions isn't enough, they need billions." I think where the conflict comes for her is when people start putting making more and more money at the top of the list, even if they have already made a ton. I'm thinking that maybe some of the conflict with Troy and others was that she wasn't willing to take some endorsements, make more perfumes, decrease the tour expenses, etc, just to increase the cash flow. She may have wanted to concentrate on music and tours while others were trying to pull her into other directions to "expand the brand" and cash in on Gaga. Knowing that she doesn't like to do anything associated with her name that she doesn't believe in and have input to, there may have been a lot of conflict like that going on that we didn't see. Certainly other celebrities have pursued the whole endorsement strategy to a much larger extent than Gaga has. Also she seems to be alluding to people that were using their association with her simply as a boost to their own careers and a notch in their resume. Those people may have been interested more on the impact on their own careers and future than on what Gaga's artistic and musical direction was. It's clear that when people work for Gaga, she expects them to be focused on contributing to the needs of the Haus, not on thinking about how they can leverage their association with Gaga for their own benefit. ryhanna 3,507
Great interview. It's always nice when she's willing to be really honest. It's sad to hear that she really was depressed over the last couple of months. It was quite clear, but I was hoping we were just reading too far into things and that she was in fact very happy. It's understandable why she'd be upset, though. Having people around you take advantage of you for their own gain - people you'd likely trusted for a long time, would be hard on anyone. It's really good that she's found something to keep her going, though. That's always important. You can't let things like depression hold you back from being who you are. Arizonadream777 184
what, you think it's untrue that people in the music industry put human lives way below the dollar bill and don't try to exploit them at every turn? Thats what the music industry is. Gaga is trying to get away from that, she doesn't like it. Who needs called out are fans that don't try to see things from her point of view. What if you had nothing but people around you who were trying to use you to maximize income, even at the expense of your health, your ideas. Treating you as just a "doll" to be played with that makes a bunch of money. You might feel a bit victimized, eh? So much "word" in this post.:)

chrismugler 944
Is it right or is it wrong? This was the intention of those twisted nursery rhyme, I-aim-to-confuse-you verses in my song "Applause." The conversation is still happening because they don't know what to think. They're still scratching their heads. This grappling is my art formâ€â€and it's powerful, because whether they like it or not, they're still talking. HB: Are you happy? LG: Today, yes. HarryTheNight 35
HB: What's the biggest thing you've learned about yourself so far? LG: I became very depressed at the end of 2013. I was exhausted fighting people off. I couldn't even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical, and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go. I just didn't feel like fighting anymore. I didn't feel like standing up for myself one more timeâ€â€to one more person who lied to me. But January 1, I woke up, started crying again, and I looked in the mirror and said, "I know you don't want to fight. I know you think you can't, but you've done this before. I know it hurts, but you won't survive this depression." I really felt like I was dyingâ€â€my light completely out. I said to myself, "Whatever is left in there, even just one light molecule, you will find it and make it multiply. You have to for you. You have to for your music. You have to for your fans and your family." Depression doesn't take away your talentsâ€â€it just makes them harder to find. But I always find it. I learned that my sadness never destroyed what was great about me. You just have to go back to that greatness, find that one little light that's left. I'm lucky I found one little glimmer stored away. HB: Are you happy? LG: Today, yes. HB: What do you want written on your gravestone? LG: "She spread love with every invention."
