Celina 118
In all honesty, I have to agree about Fashion! being disappointing. It has grown on me to the point that it's enjoyable, but I still think it's the weakest track on ARTPOP. I appreciate it though, because I can kind of relate + I think Gaga is one of the few people who could write a song about fashion in a non-shallow way
Didymus 34,379
Well, my exact (meh) words were: When I look at it as a whole I ****ing love it but when I start thinking about it and a--lyze its different elements (like the painting, the sculpture,...) I hate it And that's still true It even GREW on you? Like, you said you still hate it

Guest
Well, my exact (meh) words were: When I look at it as a whole I ****ing love it but when I start thinking about it and a--lyze its different elements (like the painting, the sculpture,...) I hate it And that's still true It's the quite opposite for me Well, in a way :haha: I don't like it when I look at the whole thing, and I don't like it when I look at details either, the sculpture itself looks like a cheap amusement park figurine made in chine and that is sprayed with glossy car paint To be honest, it would look better to me and it would be a more obvious type of a modern kitsch if the colors were a lil' bit more enhanced, like this
thatfoxyfeeling 12,927
I couldn't agree more, especially with the repitition in certain songs. It's good to see people are giving Gypsy the recognition it deserves.
DriverMonster 10
I think I'm an exception. Fashion! is my favorite song.

Harry 26,836
Very nicely written review. It's clear you've given a lot of thought and it's refreshing to see a fan on here talking about why they like/dislike certain tracks without going "YAAASSS GYPSY SLAY MAMA" Fashion is probably my least favourite too, but I don't personally think it feels out of place on the album. As you said earlier in the review, the album is a musical hybrid and each song is a surprise. Fashion included, it clearly has it's own musical identity. The songs all have distinct 'sounds' and even genres, and I don't see how Fashion is out of place if Jewels n Drugs and Dope aren't :P It's just another piece of the ARTPOP puzzle and I would certainly disagree with you when you say it doesn't add anything unique to the musical journey. It sounds nothing like any of the other songs. It is however the weakest track imo, and I wouldn't have minded if it didn't make the tracklist and was just an app song too :P "She asks the question, "Who am I?" in the first track and answers it in the last one: "I am you."" I love this so much. I never thought of it that way. If it was intended by Gaga to be that way or not it's still really cool and made me look at the album differently. It really is a journey. Didymus 34,379
You're right. I realize that now I guess I should've emphasized the journey a bit more. I feel like Fashion! actually does offer a unique element into the storyline that I see in the album (because it openly talks about transforming herself and how free that makes her feel), so I definitely shouldn't have said that it doesn't add anything to the journey. Also, musically, it's indeed a very distinct track. Lemme edit that part a bit Thank you for reacting so fully And thanks for the compliments ;) Fashion is probably my least favourite too, but I don't personally think it feels out of place on the album. Guest
I really love this one: Oh wow  A stylish and an aesthetic overdose on colors Finally a fan-made cover that uses lots of colors but doesn't make it look like a puke full of parrot feathers
PopReaper 2,231
Great review! I agree with almost everything (but Swine 'cuz I'm not a big fan of how it turned out on the album ) but it's an amazing text anyway You should review the other albums tbh Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"
AP10 0
This thread is amazing! Not only does it explain ARTPOP's concept which is not an easy concept to digest, it also indicates the artistic vibrance this album offers. " a ****ing badass, rock 'n roll, iconic pop album"- I agree with this. It is the exact type of album you would think a rock star from the 70/80's would bring in full power but the only difference is that it is heavily inspired by electronic sounds that match our culture today. "you pass 15 tracks, all tracks with their complete own atmosphere (and sometimes genre) and yet afterwards it feels like you just had a lovely walk in the park and you're ready for more."- A roller coaster that takes you to extreme points in your imagination but still makes you return safe. I couldn't agree more! Although, I must say and this is for the record, I do not feel ARTPOP is a disappointment. A disappointment in a creation is a myth to me. I feel like ARTPOP is a total party bomb, electronic, mood lifting record that conveys exactly the adrenaline and inspiration that built LG's life. I wouldn't say this album is forced! Infact, its anything but forced. This is my perspective on this specific topic. "Agree with it or not, the album is about love. The fundamental love for her fans. She asks the question, "Who am I?" in the first track and answers it in the last one: "I am you." - Gave me the chills reading this #tryingnottogetemotional To sum it up, This is a great great great thread! These are the exact threads I wish everyone would be willing to right. Very detailed, based on true feelings (which is the most important thing in music) and very honest! Thank you for making this! And for anyone that would find it too long, too detailed, too "boring", I will thank you for them because this deserves all the credit! Great job and continue with your great writing talent! :)
Ronk 14,741
Great review. It makes since that people don't agree with every point, because everyone has different tastes, different fave songs, and different opinions about music. For those same reasons, Gaga can never please everyone. I live outside the space time continuum.
