It's true. She has all of these psycho fans thinking she's their FRIEND. Like.. no. She's a celebrity and all we do is follow her and buy her products.

She doesn't need to contact us regularly. No celebrity does. I'd like more contact for ARTPOP of course, but I want nothing like BTW.

Actually i don't think anybody in this thread has ever actually referred to gaga as their friend but forgive me if im wrong but doesn't Gaga have a tattoo that says "Little Monsters"? Oh and whats that website called, i think it is littlemonsters.com- a website which she made for her fans. It isn't just the fans that have created the bond- its Gaga. No other celebrity has even began to do what Gaga does in terms of Fan connection. I agree she doesn't need to contact us regularly (Thats completely her choice) but i would say we're more than just faceless customers as you suggest. For example whenever i go into a shop and buy their product they don't get a tattoo with a fan base name or perhaps make a website for me. Anyway just look at any interview Gaga truly cares about us, true friend or not, i know that i dont just follow her and buy her products.

Imagine if... Gaga announced that ARTPOP never existed and it was just a way of keeping our minds and speculations away from her REAL next album.

I always trolled around these Forums, but I felt it was appropriate to finally chime in here.

I think there's a big reasoning as to why Gaga has been away. When she was in the spotlight, she was often spoken about over social media networks, in the news, on entertainment sites, etc. Lady Gaga is not only a person but a business - a marketing ploy for several products, not just music. (her perfume, Polaroid, Barneys, etc.)

When a particular brand (in this sense, that is Lady Gaga) becomes overplayed and saturates the market, it begins to turn people away. As one article online puts it: "if you continuously over-saturate your market you risk cheapening the perceived value of your product. Or increase the possibility people will get so sick of hearing about your product  they will go out of their way to NOT purchase it."

Social media, especially, is a way to market, and we wonder why she has gone silent. Obviously she won't be away forever as us, diehard fans, are yearning to hear what she has to say next. Once her words are spoken, we will eat it up, re-share, blog, post everywhere about it and it'll spread like wildfire (just the way that social media should work). But if she was out talking right now, being vocal about the album, it would not garner enough attention when she's ready to drop the single/album/artwork, etc.

Gaga is defying the social media marketing odds by minimizing her engagement online. It's odd, but she hasn't suffered that much. Besides Bieber taking the most followed Twitter account, that's about all she has encountered.

Imo, Gaga's main priority has always been to brand herself -- whether it be through music or other products such as her perfume line.

I feel like  this silence is for a reason. It's to hype up ARTPOP and it proves that her music - although she doesn't produce a huge amount of them (compared to other singers like Rihanna, Bey, Katy Perry), everything that she does introduce is always a hit.

In the marketing world, it's always said that it's cheaper to retain a current customer than obtain a new customer. Gaga has followed this mantra - look at the Monster Pit (rewarding her die-hard fans), photographs with fans who dress like her, and even built a social media site dedicated just for her fans.

I just wanted to chime in here because I think Gaga is a marketing genius and she has some great things up her sleeves. Holding off and keeping everybody waiting is great on her part. It's a matter of time before she brings it.

:worship: This is the first explanation I've heard that makes sense as to why she has been so silent :legend:

While I think she's CLOSE to her fans. We're definitely still her fans. And there's a reason for the distinction between friend and fan. The closeness feeling that we get is definitely real, but there are boundaries. And a lot of monsters on here seem to cross them in disrespect to her because they don't feel like she's doing what they want. That's not even what a REAL friend would do. Just saying.

I don't know who Meg Ryan is, but seriously maybe you should try finding something to do. Write in a diary or something. I do agree that she probably shouldn't have told us so far in advanced, but I legit believe the album was pushed back a bit. There probably wasn't even a set date for it.

I do have a lot do actually! I'm just eager for new music :cryga:
