mamo 19,841
Yesterday was amazing seeing Gaga rock out to Abracadabra in archive McQueen and take home Best Pop Vocal Album. But even with that win, I can’t help feeling deeply disappointed as a fan. And yes, I knew her chances in the general field were slim, especially given the Grammys’ long history of overlooking her but it still stings. She’s arguably had one of the biggest cultural years of any artist worldwide. One of the greatest live performances in Coachella history. A record-breaking 2.5 million crowd in Brazil , the largest ever for any female artist. A No. 1 album with MAYHEM. The biggest hit of the past year with Die With A Smile. Another massive hit (and iconic video) with Abracadabra. One of the strongest tours of the year. By almost any metric: impact, sales, performances, cultural relevance, this has truly been a monumental era for her. However, I recently learned that Gaga now holds the record for the most general-field Grammy nominations (14) without a single win which is partially the reason why I'm even writing this thread. To me, that’s completely insane. She’s undeniably one of the greatest artists and performers of our generation, yet she still somehow gets paid dust. It leaves me with so many questions. What exactly keeps working against her? She’s delivered so many iconic, timeless hits Poker Face, Shallow, Always Remember Us This Way, DWAS, and now Abracadabra (not to mention Bad Romance, which didn’t even get nominated for SOTY or ROTY). She's also been nominated in AOTY 5x and ties with Kendrick Lamar (who is now a 27x grammy winner) as the artists to get nominated the most in this category without a single win. For Gaga, Is it because dance-pop isn’t taken as seriously as other genres? But even when she pivots to adult contemporary or more traditional pop, she still gets snubbed. Is she seen as too divisive? Too unconventional? Or is it really just consistently bad luck and unfortunate timing? What frustrates me even more is watching other artists who we all know rack up these awards year after year, despite not possessing anywhere near Gaga’s level of creativity, vocal ability, or performance power. And honestly, I can’t help but feel that in 10+ years or even by next year (no shade), many of the songs and albums that won won’t be nearly as remembered or iconic as Gaga’s body of work. Anyway, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts and perspectives on this! xoxo Edited 4 hours ago by mamo Ï could be your girlfriend for the weekend...
Controversiaga 12,443
She WILL release an album BETTER than mayhem, she totally can. She’s done it before and she’ll do it again. but we can’t control what other artists release. Pronounced like “Balenciaga” . Emphasis on the “Ga”

nATAH 53,013
at least she's still getting nominated some of her peers can't even get a top 100 song mother, what must i do? 5
Lucas 28,879
I don't know to be honest. I'm not entirely sure that Mayhem deserved to win, simply because the 2nd half is quite weak and uncohesive compared to the 1st half, but again, Midnights won and it's a very mid album. The only thing I'd say is that maybe giving more life to the music might help, through music videos, performances etc... GerMonsterNotta 1,872
I think she just needs to keep going and be true to herself and the art… If the award comes one day, then amazing, but I’d honestly just be generally happy with her continuing to give us a good music and visuals…. I mean she has 16 already 🤭 now a Tony on the other hand…. Now that’s a different story..

If that woman who shall not be named can win album of the year four times, then why hasn't Gaga won when she's continuously released better bodies of work. Bonkers 30,201
The truth is that nominations and wins are basically the same thing. In almost every category, everyone deserves to win and it's just a matter of timing who actually does. With 16 wins and clearly dominating the Grammy news, she's at the top. gagzus 17,274
hate to say it but she needs to put out a full acoustic/stripped back album like Shallow or DWAS because that’s the music people outside of her fans love her for. Theres a reason why for years people would say she has good music BUT they prefer her at a piano showing off her voice. Even now you get people just discovering her or having a discography deep dive and they almost always unanimously prefer her adult contemporary and piano driven ballads over her electropop songs. BUT she’s not Taylor Swift who infamously only made 1989 because she lost for Red. Edited 4 hours ago by gagzus
PartySick 165,907
Idk why you guys care this much tbh The trophies are cool but how many Grammy winners get hate while "snubbed" artists get mad respect? And in the lead up to this particular show, we learned how many voters are truly clueless so why does their decision even matter? She gave us a sick performance, she came away as one of the most talked about people (nearly all positive), and her peers continue to have massive amounts of respect for her. What would the trophy really change 🥀 1

River 121,384
She was the biggest winner that night lol There's nothing to be pissed about, Bad Bunny's win is a win for all of us, it's a win against Trump, against ICE, against MAGA. The fact that he did his acceptance speech mostly in Spanish is f-cking brave and a reminder that he is American and Spanish IS his mother tongue and not English! For once, honestly, just celebrate a win of another artist, celebrate the impact he did. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy 3

What would the trophy really change It's not that I care deeply as such, I already know the Grammys don't always reward the greatest. So many of my favourite artists have never won or been nominated. I just find the mentality of the voting body to be completely odd in what they deem to be the "best" of the year? And that's really what the core of this thread is about. However, as a long-time hardcore Gaga fan, I obviously love seeing her get her flowers. I also just like seeing people who actually produce high-quality work win, it's that simple. She did more videos than is industry standard atp, put on one of the most impressive tours of her career, headlined Coachella, performed in front of 2.5M people in Brazil, and did way more late night TV appearances than is industry standard. Not really sure what more she could have done tbh. We have forgotten our public MANNERS 1
