Harry 26,836
You wanna talk about fair? Sweden is way bigger than UK, but we never get more than two shows in Stockholm. So it's pretty annoying to see that UK gets 50 shows per artist. I will be so pissed if she does more in UK. No offense to British, but she is doing everything in the UK. She barely does promo anywhere in continental Europe. ikr, some of the british are here so ignorant Like France only got 2 dates as well, I think And France is way bigger than UK :P Still is UK small compared to other countries which only got like 2 dates. I can understand why you guys wanna see her more, but the fact remains that the UK is a more viable market for her to concentrate on. Hence the larger promo. Although it does baffle me that she hasn't been to Germany yet since that is a very big market that she hasn't touched for ARTPOP, along with France... I don't see how we are being ignorant. She and her team just need to do what's sensible for them to be honest. Anyway on the Born This Way Ball, Germany got more shows than us (2 in Cologne, 1 in Berlin, 1 in Hanover) and France had the same (1 in Paris, 2 in Nice). As a music market, Sweden is approximately a tenth the size of UK and Germany, so the fact she did 2 shows there is very good in comparison to the small number of UK, Germany and France shows. It should be less about the music market perspective and more of the fan perspective. I don't think UK really NEEDS 20 shows in one tour. The bigger countries with smaller music markets that only gets 1 or 2 shows do need more. An worldwide star can't "concentrate" like 80-90% on a few countries with big music markets and forget about the smaller countries, they are important too. Yeah in a perfect world it should be about the fan perspective. But they can't afford to lose money - it costs a lot to put on a big tour, and when such a small percentage of the country's population buys music, why would loads more people pay x10 the price of what it does for an album for a concert ticket? Gaga has a lot of hardcore fans WW, but a small number of hardcore fans in small markets just don't justify like 5 arena shows. You need to play to the GP as well. I don't think the UK needs 20 shows either. But certainly more than 3 lol. If she's doing just arena shows, maybe like 8-10. Germany should have 5 or 6, France perhaps 3-4. Netherlands and Italy could justify 3 shows as well I guess since they are in the top ten music markets of the world. Other European countries such as Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden.. I guess it would make sense to keep only having 1 or 2 shows there. I didn't say she should forget about the smaller markets lol but do you genuinely think it would make sense for her to play 4 shows in UK, 2 in Germany, 3 in Japan and then 12 in Sweden, 6 in Norway, 8 in Switzerland ... ? I'm not suggesting that either. Are you seriously comparing Spain and Sweden with Switzerland and Austria? and a small country like Netherlands should have more shows? Bigger ones like Spain and Sweden should have maybe 3 or 4. 1 or 2 doesn't make sense. The BTW Ball in Sweden was from the beginning only planned for 1 show in Stockholm. That one sold out in a few minutes so they added one extra show, also in Stockholm. That was barely enough. So larger countries (in size and population) should have more (maybe 3 or 4 like I said) in different cities, not only the capital. Therefore more people will have the possibility to go because it would be easier to get a ticket and not everyone can afford to travel far and stay at hotels. Harry 26,836
8-10 in England? I nearly die from laughter Why? It's the second most profitable market for Western artists so I don't see why that's funny I am only talking about arena shows though. If it's stadiums there should be like 5, and not with like all of them in London lol. Plus it was one of the most successful stops in Europe on TBTWB. On average tickets sold for $107. I'm not suggesting that either. Are you seriously comparing Spain and Sweden with Switzerland and Austria? and a small country like Netherlands should have more shows? Well the last time I checked Switzerland was a bigger market than Sweden, so... Yes. And Netherlands is a much bigger market than Spain and Sweden. It's tenth in the world. I think Austria is a bit smaller but it was the first other country that came into my head lol. I think 3 shows could be good for Sweden and Spain, maybe. If they are not just in one city though. And your argument about the Stockholm show selling out could be applied to literally any other city's show that sold out. For example both London shows sold out in minutes and attracted over 100,000 people. If that isn't demand then I don't know what is. Anyway, ARTPOP didn't even chart top 5 in Sweden so I wouldn't hold your breath for 4 shows lol.
Rollercoaster 2
Lady Gaga could do 20 sold out shows in the UK and sell out. The fact of the matter is that the UK is densely populated and is a huge cash cow for music and touring. Why are people behaving like if she tours the UK more then she will tour other places less? I think the smartest decision would be 2 UK legs separated from Europe shows. TMB benefited greatly from extensive UK touring, and she needs to rekindle her UK power too so it can't hurt. I'm talking about the geographic size of the countries. It would be so much better if they focused more on the fan perspective. I'm not expecting 4 shows either. Most of the countries get 1 or 2 shows so I just think that the English people shouldn't start to scream and cry just because they don't get 5 shows/city. Okay well by that logic you believe that Gaga should schedule more shows in China and India than in the US, and more in Pakistan, Nigeria and Bangladesh than any country in Europe for the artRave? Hmm..... Higher population/country size =/= more fans/interest. There is no measure for how many 'fans' there are in a country. The closest you can get is sales. It's literally that simple. 5 stadiums show Simon, why are you being like that? We're just having a discussion, being rude and sarcastic doesn't make you any smarter or more correct. I mean you can laugh all you like but you still have no valid point and you're basically making yourself look ignorant and silly. Not cool.
