That J 12,166
It's unhealthy to look at this tour as a failure. It's unrealistic to expect any artist (who isn't a legacy act) to be in the top 5 tours every year. You can't compare 7 months with 18 months or 200 shows with 78 shows. If 2.5 million albums sold, 2 #1 albums and a worldwide tour that will gross around 90 million in one year is a "failure", the problem here is fan expectations! Luc 4,775
I can't believe some people complain about the figures here when six months ago nobody would have bet a dollar on the tour. and now they are complaining about the "100M" thing :madge: You are never happy last year everybody expected us to have the last laugh in the katy vs gaga fight due to the tour. so many were saying 'yeah but she's still a touring act who people want to see no matter what'. most people expected her to gross 150 million AT LEAST. after june these expectations lowered to 100-110 million, then to 90-100 million and now 80-90 million. everybody last year wouldve bet their money on gaga grossing over 100 million. its so disappointing, and we shouldnt expect touring demand when theres no demand for the artist in general anymore till gaga actually becomes a legend (and she has quite a few years to go). Although I totally agree with this post, there are other factors. There were opportunities she didn't take advantage of. Like another show in NY, Chicago, Toronto, and shows in other states. A smaller Asian leg was expected but not THIS small. She could've done at least 5 shows in other Asian countries.
TEANUS 15,732
Gaga didn't want this tour to be long, if she and the label really wanted the tour to gross over 100 million they would've been able to do it easily. All they had to do was add 1 or 2 African dates and like a date in Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, or Taiwan, AND a date in Brazil and Argentina. They had easy opportunities but their and Gaga's point obviously wasnt for them to make 100 M. Also, Gaga has other things to do, Cheek to Cheek, Eau de GAGA, etc. I think that after the tour and after C2C and Eau de Gaga promotion ends , Gaga will have like a 5-6 month break where she'll simply have an actual break for the first time in her career. (February-July WAS NOT a break, Gaga was recovering for surgery and for the last month or two Gaga was rehearsing and recording vigorously. Shes not promoting anything atm. perhaps a cheek to cheek interview here and there, but nothing else. this is (for gaga) a very normal schedule. hopefully she uses november and december to promote c2c in japan, germany, france, australia, the uk, the us, canada and australia as much as possible. 2 persons is extremely beneficial, and they could do a lot of promo spots together. itsdominik 16,831
Can we talk about how well Prague did? Nearly 11k tickets sold (10,734 tickets). :)
Griffin 6
Just realised it's sort of cute how Cheek To Cheek is helping along Gaga's numbers. Like, we thought she'd have 10M albums sold in the US with ARTPOP and stuff but she didn't make it, so Cheek To Cheek will push her across the line. We also thought she'd make $500M tour gross but it seems she won't quite make it, so the Cheek To Cheek tour should be able to bring it up over $500M before the 5th era. She's touring and she is promoting C2C...not an interview "here and there". There have been interviews, photo shoots, concerts, and live events. Planning and organization has to happen, to be able to pull off a tour and a completely new era at the same time. Also, she's not going to travel all over the world to promo a jazz album. They will concentrate on the US and Canada and perhaps do a few concerts outside of those areas...if demand calls for it. Gaga will get done with her tour and move straight to promo and concerts for C2C for three months, or more.
