Media really plays a BIG role on success.

I mean, of course if you read "Lady Gaga's latest album sells crazy and receives critical aclaim" you'll be interested on listening it.

Otherwise if you read "Lady Gaga flops harder than ever with her album ARTPOP which received bad critics", you are obviously not interested on it.

it's simple.

but hey, everything is connected. Ther are ups and downs, Madonna MJ and all the legends had amazing sellers at the beggining of their carrers but if you search, you'll see how the next ones don't sell that well. Madonna was being outsold by all of her contemporanies, but then she came back with an epic album... I don't think we have to worry that much for Gaga's carrer. She'll be on the top again, maybe after 2 more albums, but she will. It's not like she's flopping by having sold 600k WW at this point, she's not doing amazing but she's not flopping THAT hard.

I just hope that the tour does well, if it does it will be the confirmation of Gaga's carrer being fine.

And I really prefer Gaga's situation to Katy's (for example). Katy just does well with her commercial and simple songs, but she's not having any cultural impact. People like her music, yes, but they really don't give two ****s about her, her live performances (she hasn't any epic performance), her appearances (She'll never have a meat dress moment, for example), her concerts...

It could be due to people's interest. During 2011 people were getting tired of Gaga but she still had that presence, MTN was performed everywhere and especially in Europe due to EMAs. And video is of paramount importance, it gets played on music stations and I don't know about other continents but in many places I've visited in Europe many people leave their TVs on music stations. MTN had more exposure and ( here comes an anecdotal evidence so take it with a grain of salt) the people I know can definitely remember MTN while most don't even know of DWUW. And so it's not much of a stretch to think this situation happens in other more important countries.

Fair enough.  And I must admit too that the interest over Gaga back during the MTN era is clearly more prominent than the most part of the DWUW promotional run, largely because of the absence of the MV. And personally, with that you've said, it just came to my mind that I actually remember MTN's lyrics more than DWUW's for some reason. That chorus is so hard to forget.  :toofunny:

Videos can really make or break an era with Gaga.... I think yuyi video had the least effect. The vh1 that airs in my country ( I don't know of which Region it is definitely a European one though) airs MTN sometimes yet I never see yuyi. The impact of Gaga's video on the public is big. Some epic video or two might drive up interest again!

It'll be a hard job doing that because

iTunes Pop:

1124. Britney Spears - It Should Be Easy (feat. will.i.am)

Not Charting: Now That I Found You

Radio:

BRITNEY SPEARS – Now That I Found You: 0.096 (+ 0.006)

No Audience: It Should Be Easy

:smh:

I asked where did you find it (cause i want to see other low charting songs too) lol i didn't say you lied

It's here: http://www.bcharts.com.br/index.php/mediabase-26012014/

But you won't find anything extra to the ones I posted. I posted the whole list.

ughm I think u are wrong in way .... sometimes success is not everything u know and just to point something the ARTRave was sponsored by Gaga herself, Interscope never fund that.

U see Capitol invested so much in Pirsm's promotion it was the most promoted album and brand of the year and of course it gave back to them because by far Prism is Katy's biggest success BUT let's look the things this way with the promotion as big as Prism's campaing the numbers (for Katy maybe be really really good) coming, from such monstreous promo schedule and money put in it, are not that amazing. See album having so much invested in should at least have performed closer to BTW's numbers because back in 2011 Interscope put such big investment in BTW and now the album is above 7M WW which is really amazing. And Katy right now is in similar position as Gaga back in 2011 - at her peak the most overexposed artist of the yet etc. so the situation is comparable.

Now let's look at ARTPOP with promotion 545612315316551x less than Prism's it opened with close numbers to Prism which is really saying something here more on Katy was always loved by the GP where Lady Gaga had first ot recover her image from the last few years. And even Prism is out selling ARTPOP in the US it's not by that far + Prism has 2 smash hits 3 videos etc. where ARTPOP has one decent hit and on underperforming single with video yet to come :awkney:

So yeah the success is important but it's not always to greatest goal see Katy maybe the on the top right now where Gaga hasn't had #1 single for the last 3 years yet her tour is selling really well and I'm sure it will outsell Katy's tour .... we'll see.

Interscope right now is not promoting Gaga as radio artist or single artist like Katy is since the start of her career they are promoting Gaga as live artist where are coming the real money from because we all know that tour is the most prifitable market and if we see it that way Gaga made more money from 3 nights in Hong Kong than her bigeest hit ever ;)

You're just proving my point.

I said that Interscope is focused on money, so they focus on tours and such.

But Capitol focuses on everything, including success.

What is better, though, long-term?

I say focusing on chart success and higher numbers. Why?

The media is currently eating Gaga alive, the reviews for ARTPOP were quite bad and everything Gaga does is getting negative press. Why is this? Because she's not doing great on the charts. Media and the GP could care less about tours. Only 1/500 of the US citizens will see Gaga on tour, while 50 million+ people are potential album/single buyers and 250 million+ listen to radio.

If Gaga is becoming a touring artist, she will become irrelevant. That means that she has no support from the GP anymore, and that only her fans are supporting her.

This has happened to Justin Bieber. He got so much hate, negative press. He only had his fanbase left, and that's all. He might be making ****loads of money, but is he popular? Does he get played on radio? No.

Is he in decline? Yes.

Why? Because of all the negative press and controversy surrounding him, while he isn't expanding his fanbase because he doesn't have a single on radio or a new music video that appeals to people or something like that. The only thing he has left is his fanbase.

I don't want that to happen with Gaga, but if Interscope/Gaga keep focusing on getting more money by doing less pricy promotion, rather than getting more customers and building a fanbase and getting more people to hear your album by doing a lot of promotion which could be a long-term investment.

Gaga needs promotion to do well, Gaga needs to be exposed, Gaga needs to have more customers, but that's not possible because some people refuse to buy or watch or see or listen to anything Gaga-related, because of all the controversy in the past. Or will not give ARTPOP a chance, because of the negative review they read in the newspaper, and they'll assume the album is as terrible as the reviews make it sound. Or they won't even know Gaga has a new album out, because they can't know, because there's no successful single or big promotion going on.
