but it's not a ballad, nor is it electronic. stuck in the middle, therefore i can't see it performing too well  is the Top 10 on ITunes.

Currently? Definitely not.

When it was released and inflated by the ARTPOP preorders?

Yes. As was Venus. Yet Venus had a longer run in the top 20, with no promotion.

If Gaga had started promoting Venus more earlier, we'd be seeing it higher.

I wish she stuck with Venus for the second single, it obviously was much more planned out. But I've loved the performances of the DWUW era, why isn't it smashing :emo: It pretty much had all the major promo it could've got.

I'm not talking about Gypsy being in the Top 10, I'm talking about songs on ITunes at the moment. Plus, whenever she performed Gypsy in Japan, U.K., and U.S. It  had higher chart positions than when Venus charted. I'm not counting preorders either. It even went higher in Australia, due to the Muppets Special, where was Venus?

Well, I'm going to bed.

This so much. People keep ignoring the fact that venus performances have had NO effect on iTunes.

I mean even Japan didn't like Venus.

If Japan who loves crazy things and didn't like venus, why would any other country like it?

I just watched this performance again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgaWc3vxOhE and can you imagine what would have happen if the video was released the day after?

It's one of her best performances. :legend:

Then we could had the xtina remix and performance in december to give the single more longevity and move on to third single (gypsy) around the grammys with a grammy performance. This era could been so good if only the promo was planed better  :noparty:

It's just another DWUW, it's not going to fare well at ALL. There's nothing interesting about it, and even as a Gaga fan, I'd change the station. The fourth single is going to be spring/summer, which if anything is better for gypsy, but even GUY could work. There's just not enough supporting it other than the fact it's Gaga.

Also, let's think about the fact that Adele is going to perform a smashing ballad that will go straight to the top of the iTunes chart and debut in the top 10 of the hot 100. Gypsy in it's slow tempo glory CANNOT compete with that.

If you wanna discuss musical relevance right now, I'd say MANiCURE actually stands the best chance of becoming a hit. That sort of stomp-rock/pop mix is pretty in right now. Of course, that could all change if it isn't released as the third or fourth single.

I do think Gaga fans underestimate its potential appeal tho.

Dangerous Man

I still believe the video will help DWUW to enter the top ten or at least will help it to re-peak, depending on its shock factor. Venus might be also her future hit depending on its video too.

I believe Bad Romance would never become a solid smash without its remarkable MV.

Gypsy might be her 4th number 1 hit and I hope she'll perform it on the grammys, but that means, that time they already have given up for DWUW.

Think about it, why would she continue to do something safe?

She should release the DWUW video and continue with her initial decision of Venus as a new single.

Dope peaked at #8 due to forced streaming, but do you honestly think that of the current songs on the radio, it'll stand out? To be honest, I agree with the prediction that it would peak at #29, just for the sake of her name.

I've been lurking this forum for a while, weeks even, and I figured it'll be fine to post my two cents, since everyone else can.

It's a new year, and the songs on the radio have become chewed, spat, regurgitated, and overplayed. The public needs a new song, a new sound, and what better than Venus?

If Gaga never takes risks and goes the same route that's safe and formulaic, she'll simply be giving into the public.

That's not her image. Due to her love for Venus, can you imagine how amazing the video will be, especially now that she has had so much time to cultivate the ideas, redo the video, and perfect it? This would be something to let her enter the Top 3 on the Social Chart, as well as have an amazing debut amongst the streaming songs list, further propelling her debut on the Hot 100.

In addition, she'd have yet ANOTHER #1 on the club/electronic songs chart. Have you seen how popular Wake Me Up got?

There is DEFINITELY hope for Venus, as it is something fresh, and definitely a redefined Gaga.

Plus, it would motivate people to buy her album since the rest of it actually is fitting. Dope and Gypsy, while cool, seem so misplaced in this album. An upbeat album? Look at why PRISM still continues to sell high, people want to listen to more songs like Roar and Dark Horse, which accurately reflect the album's content. This would give the album push, GP push, as well as push for Gaga to prove the public wrong with HER CREATION

Give Venus a chance as a single, it'll be something that's going to be weird initially, but after a few spins, I'm sure you'll hear yourself singing the hook or humming along to it.

Also, G.U.Y. as a fourth and final single for Act I to finalize the strength of Gaga as a figure of female empowerment as well as a summer smash as a definite counter for Blurred Lines (even though I know it wasn't)?? Summer WINNER.

Great post! Totally agree on everything except for only 4 singles.

Gaga should try bringing new sounds in pop music while keeping dance music alive. ARTPOP didn't need tracks like J&D, DWUW, DOPE and Gypsy because none of them fit the music/title. GUY is the best representation of the album.

No way, I actually agree!! But we need Venus to get the era on track first otherwise it'll be wasted
