Mills 446
BTW got a DEAL and It was Born This Way a.k.a the most anticipated thing in music for the last 10 years by The new Queen of POP - Lady Gaga there was no payola It was all legal and It was normal .. most stations played the song every hour without even a deal Agreed. Coming off from an era like the TF/TFM where she scored 6 consecutive #1 Pop Songs and simply dominated everything, from awards to album sales, wouldn't need any "payola". It was the hype and anticipation alone that drove BTW, the lead single, to the top of the charts back then. Nothing else.
Bt1 5,213
WTF ? BTW is one of the best songs written in recent years .. don't let the hate for the song get to you ... BTW has 0 flaws seriously, I hate how underrated this song is And the song as a whole doesn't matter .. the slayage was always going to be this big .. Lady Gaga was everything back then... She only need it Judas to change that.
MonsterMum 2,532
Imagine slayage if it was actualy good song and song loved by the public Huh? It's a good song and been a number 1 hit around the world?
Bt1 5,213
I like BTW enough but it is a bit underwhelming... Now imagine if The Edge of Glory was released as the lead single :nooo: The slayage would have been real and the rest of the era would have gone more smoothly. I dont know. BTW had also the gay factor.
Mariano 958
BTW sold 8.2M in 2011 alone - as much as Rolling in the deep sold WW in 2011 ... then in 2012 RITD outsold BTW by far, but in 2011 BTW was as successful WW as RITD which is a lot .. and Imagine if BTW sold as much in the USA as RITD did ... the song would've been 10M WW.. If Gaga released Applause instead BTW i guess it would have sold around 6m only in US

If Gaga released Applause instead BTW i guess it would have sold around 6m only in US Yes the name Gaga was a selling point. Now it's harder for her and I don't see a problem in that tbh. Maybe it re-lights that little fire in her that she wants to crawl her way up again, on different occassions she has stated that it feels like a new beginning to her. Or maybe this is what it's gonna be like. Music not for the masses but for the refined that don't mind spending a bit of time looking for references and meanings. Only time will tell...
