ARTPOP is an incredibly solid album with some real hits on it. Maybe not Poker Face-level smashes, but hits nonetheless. Strangely enough, the underwhelming success of the album and Gaga's somewhat ho-hum attitude lately haven't lessened the album for me. While a couple songs have inevitably become my "most skipped," I still very much enjoy every single song on the album. We just need smart, straightforward planning from here on out. Had Applause not leaked and the video and song were released the same day, it would have reached a #3 peak on the hot 100. If the video had been released after SNL, AMA's, The Voice performance or the Xtina remix, DWUW would have definitely been a top 10 hit. Even if just for one week due to streaming. As long as Gaga remains passionate about ARTPOP and Interscope gives her the support she needs, the album definitely contains at least one or two more top ten hits, which could carry the album throughout the year. Honestly... I don't care about online kindness. I don't care that the media's calling Gaga a flop. And I don't care that the critics are giving our fave ****. I mean if you love R&B and bought DWUW, then you'd be really disappointed with ARTPOP because it doesn't represent the album at all. People who like dance tracks would buy this album. I really think it's her most musically relevant song right now. It shows a lighter side of her, would heavily attract the female demographic and would likely do incredibly well on radio. I just hope DWUW can sell 1m and that the video is released sometime this year (Rihanna released the Pour it up video 8/9 months after it was doing well and it's on it's way to do 100m views... DWUW could do the same) I also hope we'll get third single too.
