craig 680
Yeah, we see how well that has paid off. If they just waited to release it properly people would still buy it, they just have to look at DarkHorse I'd say Uncle and DH were mishandled worse than DWUW. It just shows if people are into a song, it doesn't need a fancy video to smash.

Not really, they gave Uncle a real chance and it didn't really work, so they moved. Interscope didn't even try with Venus, they just killed it before it was even released. Whispering 18,865
Why didn't she just wait to release DWUW as 3rd Single... she would've time to learn some choreo, make an amazing MV (with Christina Aguilera) and so on Hindsight is 20/20. What if she had released something else as single #2 and it had flopped? That would have hurt her during the Christmas buying season and made it extremely difficult to release a third single. Her performance of DWUW on the AMAs was great and the performance with Christina created a moment. What if single #2 wouldn't have been a good fit for those types of performances? If she didn't have the time and resources for the DWUW video, chances are the same thing would have happened with any other song. Pop radio is playing DWUW, the GP thinks it is a major hit song, the second one off of her new album. It has been a big hit in many countries outside of the US. DWUW is a good lead in for single #3. chris777 112
Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 1. Timber 2. Counting Stars 3. The Monster 4. Royals 5. Say Something 6. Dark Horse 7. Let Her Go 8. Wake Me Up 9. Wrecking Ball 10. Demons http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/5862620/pitbull-kesha-take-timber-to-top-of-hot-
gagabro 268
Timber getting #1 on Hot 100 is an embarrassment to pop music... Dark Horse coming for that top spot, too, I see! But I like that song so it's okay.

Now Uncle is out of top 40 UK and her album has dropped 17-20-22-36-40(midweeks) there since X Factor.
Whispering 18,865
Ikr, they had 2 years to plan the era, one night meeting with interscope and they could have planned the singles one by one. Two years? She was kind of busy with a massive worldwide tour and a broken hip! Fans are so delusional with their two year talk! Record labels have hundreds of artists on their roster and limited resources. They DO NOT start planning eras two years, or even one year ahead of time. Venus and DWUW were both late additions to the album anyway. That's not unusual, that kind of thing happens all the time!
MonsterMum 2,532
What a mess this thread has become again, I'll come later to see if you pulled yourself together. How can you expect to be on top of their game 5 years in a row, performance wise, chart wise, album selling wise, please get a reality check. ALL the big artists we know today had a down periode, MJ, Madonna, Bowie went completely off the radar and they are considered legends. Elton John had almost 5 years of barely scratching the charts between Nikita (1985) to Sacrifice (1990). That's basically the whole span or Gaga's carreer so far and he's a legend? Really guys just breath in and breath out and get a clear head once in a while.

AMA and Voice didn't do really much, except in the UK.
craig 680
AMA and Voice didn't do really much, except in the UK. They generated some much needed positive buzz, boosted the song for a week, and helped sell the album and tour. (Remember when ARTPOP sold 46k week 2 and everybody panicked?) Whispering 18,865
You went completely off topic FYI Gaga is doing arenas too No, I addressed every single person you brought up in your hysterical statement that everyone else was doing so much better than Gaga, which couldn't be further from the truth. FYI, Gaga didn't do arenas when she was at her peak. Katy is. Miley is. You said that the whole world is watching every single step that Miley takes and is obsessed with her, why isn't she selling more albums than Gaga? Why isn't she selling out stadiums? Well, we will never know. No one does. If you do, please get yourself to a record label ASAP, because they will want to hire you immediately for millions of dollars, because they haven't found a single person, who can predict with certainty, what will be a "sure fire big hit".
