Id let one of you do it since I'd probably make her cry accidentally by being too blunt :rip:

She's already admitted she doesn't like hearing the truth when it's bad :awkney:

Ill kindly remind you that you were insisting her promotion was fine before the album release when I said it wasn't enough. With that, I'll forward you to hits daily double and your home country's album debut :)

80% drop in US ... might show that the only reason Canadian week 1 underperformed relative to US by 4k was foreign Monsters buying fancy covers from Amazon.com.

Still don't think "lack of promo" is a major problem in US. Yeah she could be doing a bit more, but it wouldn't sell that many more copies.

While promo now would help a little bit, honestly the whole problem is rooted back to the born this way era and how it followed through, and what happened and what did not happen since then. And there is nothing we can do to change the past...we just have to hope for a better future .

Married the Night

DWUW is being squandered by Gagas behind the scenes fight currently, idk wtf is going on back there but it needs to stop. Like, now. The fact she said internal changes are taking up her schedule so casually in her interview in Canada is just stupid. How could any rational person think that's okay when you have a new album out? Your schedule should be full of promotional spots and ideas and performance concepts, not meetings for a new manager because you fired everyone

Like.. Really Gaga, Really

I have to agree.

Well, on a completely meaningless note. Lovegame finally topped 100M on youtube. Don't know how long ago it passed on vevo.

That goes for her management situation too. Troy is gone, see needs to get that sorted out.

She's still doing all the planned promo.

Just be glad Gaga isn't a rock band who can break up. You know it was only 5 years after Beatlemania that they split up.

Looks like we're gonna be back where we were last week at this time come Sunday. I really have no idea whether or not the AMA's would give it a bigger or smaller boost than SNL.

i would imagine the audience of a music show would be more prone to buy music than a comedy show...

I've been thinking about this whole situation for a little while, and although it is a tad bit too soon to count anything out, I think the biggest problem is with the music industry in general. People just don't buy (pop) music anymore. Okay, so Gaga has SOLD 258K in the USA legally. The amount of people that have ARTPOP in their itunes right now probably doubles, triples or even quadruples that number, because frankly, people don't want to invest their money in pop music anymore. All the pop girls have had pretty "not great" sales. People don't want to buy CDs anymore when you can get it for free online at the click of a button.

It makes me think back to when Born This Way came out and there was talk of how they could give away the music for free, or whatnot (or for a very low price) ((then came the amazon deal)). But it worked didn't it? Regardless of who was profiting or in charge of the decision, it caught people's attention and the GP took advantage. A whole CD for ONE DOLLAR. It's insane. And potentially the future.

In my opinion, this whole situation really makes me hope Lady Gaga takes a similar approach to her next release much like Robyn's Body Talk... A whole album of music split into a handful of EPs spread throughout the year. This keeps things fresh, exciting, and CHEAPER. It would always feel like a new experience with the release of each new EP, as well as eliminates the "stretching out" of album campaigns, so hopefully the GP would maintain an interest with each release. And let's be honest, ARTPOP was released just over a week ago, and we're already getting excited for the next act of ARTPOP.

Sorry this is so long...

I think releasing a series of EP's more quickly would be perfect for Gaga's creative process. Releasing music more frequently seems like it would be more satisfying for her and for her fans. And I loved Robyn's Body Talk project. From a business standpoint however, that strategy works much better for smaller artists so that they can tour smaller venues more frequently while keeping interest alive. The logistics of setting up Gaga's style of huge, long tours would not jive well with an EP release schedule. Plus, recent examples of big artists trying to release music in this manner has shown diminishing returns. So while I think this approach would work creatively it doesn't seem to be the best business strategy.

Once again, what do you want her to do? She's not a label manager. Do you think she has been making all her business decisions and doing all her promotion schedules for the past five years? She hasn't and she can't do that now!
