faux 2,190
It debuted #1, what are you all whining about?
theredkilt 0
this board is so full of hypocrisy. If she debuts with sales above 300k, eveyone here will snub it in Katy's or Miley's fans faces at every opportunity they get. It is shocking that her album 1st week sales plumetted down from 1.1 million copies to 260k. It something for her team to take into account for her next album. Lbr, BTW and Applause weren't the best choices for lead singles... THIS
StefJAGermanotta 2
Her management is partly to blame for the weak sales, I personally couldn't give a **** as a fan, as long as she's doing what she's doing, it doesn't really matter about sales figures anymore. I just think it's a bit of a conspiracy and Interscope pushed with Eminem and held back with Gaga, simply because Eminem will always have a crazy first week in sales and bring in the dosh for the company, it's been happening for the past decade, without fail and I guess they don't want him to be out-shined by anyone on their own label. Thank you, this. Clearly it is NOT in Interscope's interest to screw over their biggest money maker. Eminem may sell more records, but Gaga's tours are killer and that's where the money comes in! $150 tickets > $15 albums. I was surprised that Gaga's net worth, in her short 5 year career, is greater than Eminem's decade long career! At any rate, even though I love Kevin and his Skorpion show, I don't think Interscope is sabotaging Gaga's career--it's in their best interest for her to sell tons of albums and then rake in all the money on tour! I think that perhaps the creative difference was probably Gaga wanting to do the artRave, but Interscope and Troy Carter pushing her to do the EMAs for the publicity and promo, but since she's such a big deal, they may have relented to keep her happy and allowed her to throw the party? I mean, this is conjecture, but it's only logical that Interscope wants to MAKE money so they're going to make sure Gaga succeeds with album and tour sales. elixt 34
Like I have said and will always say I'am here for the music and for Gaga I will always love and enjoy what she brings out for my personal self, Charts mean nothing it's just an obsession the fans create if she's not number one they get all pissed off about it, and drag her down that she isn't creating great music. If she is at the top of the charts you love her and the music is great then. It's all about who's better and who is more popular if it's charts some of you will obsess about then don't call yourself a fan because your not entirely standing by her she create's music for us the fans to enjoy. not to judge if not it's not charting at #1. I listen to bands that sell 30,000 copies worldwide you don't see those kind of fans disrespecting getting a b*tch fit on that they aren't selling more copies music is mean't to be enjoyed for yourself if you are a huge fan of that artist or band honestly fan bases are like children in a park Example: Who's toy is better and who has the most toys Honestly grow up. /rantover

giskardsb 12,565
Record companies don't make money off of tours, the artist does, that's where the artist shines most, through ticket sales and merchandising. Where the record company reaps benefits, is when their artist sells hundreds of thousands of albums in their first week or so. Nope. Gaga, and most top artists now, are signed to "360" deals. This means that the label also invests in and gets benefits from the tour, promotions, and other marketing. Labels have started going to these deals specifically because so many people illegally download albums now that albums are not profitable. For all the whining about album sales by all stans, these current generations are responsible for the fact that they don't consider it a moral failing to just download an artists work without paying for it. They are causing the downfall of the industry that they claim to love. There will be no money to support big labels, which means no more big pop stars. Or maybe a few big pop stars, but there will be many less "Kesha" level stars or other mid-level stars because the industry won't have the financial ability to support anyone that doesn't sell at the highest levels. That's already happening and part of the reason why there is very little diversity in pop music. so people that are simultaneously b---hing about albums not being sold need to look at their playlists and see how many artists they've download for "free" and realize they are part of the problem. It's not good enough to only buy for the artist you "stan" for, you have to support the industry as a whole if you want it to exist. It's not good enough to only buy for the artist you "stan" for, you have to support the industry as a whole if you want it to exist. There is a solution to this whole problem. Release it first on iTunes and Amazon and weak or two later as physical CD. So it can't get leaked, they would get much more sales. Dont even press the CD befor the iTunes release! Also don't send it to people to review it. Get them to lables, play for them in a separate room, and everyone should give up all electronic devices before listening to it.
