It just ruined the surprise, and now many people will have absurd expectations of the dress, and if it falls short of their expectations, it's gonna get dragged. Like, if she had announced prior to the VMAs she designed a dress made of meat, the impact wouldn't have been that big. She's a celebrity, not a product company.
