Yeah I culd see unconditionally smashing like stay by Riri. I have a feeling katy is gonna be hit Nya car but her baby will be there for her unconditionally and the song will come out having a good Xmas feeling and she will smash. Meanwhile Gaga will have some weird ass satanic video w r Kelly and ppl will hate her more.

What's frustrating about the album numbers is that it's now clear btw did a lot of damage in the eyes of the gp. The good news is that people are willing to consider listening to her again (applause has been a slow and steady success) but only in small doses which is prolly why the album sales are low. Will she have a constant # 1 career and slay the charts every era ... Prolly not but that doesn't mean she's a flop. I think she's going to have a few singles have good success from here on out and moderate album sales. She may not be on top of the charts forever but she definitely can stay relevant and become a legend, she pretty much is one at this point. I think honestly she will have a career like David Bowie. A mixed career with some huge smashes, smaller successes and some that the public just doesn't get . But ultimately she will have her own place in music history as being an innovater and different from her peers.

See, I strongly disagree. I think ARTPOP is far and away her worst effort to date. The production is cleaner in some places than her past efforts, but it's also more stale and sanitized and dull. And the songwriting is much weaker here, and the whole album is conceptually weaker. There's a lot more to a song than its production.

Granted, 61 is a little below where I'd score it. (I'd give it a 6.5 or 7, depending on my mood).

You nailed it. I've been thinking why I don't like it as much as BTW, and "sanitized" is the perfect way to describe it.

As a whole, the production is much cleaner than the past record, but that doesn't equate to a better result. And "dull" is what I would say about songs like G.U.Y. or Donatella. The production is too clean, too clean; to the point of sometimes losing the raw passion she has delivered before. And while the concept of art and pop belonging together is interesting, I believe most songs failed to grasp it successfully on their own. This is probably the reason as to why I enjoy DWUW so much. It has an interesting production, which is very polished, but also layered. And I tie the meaning of it with ARTPOP easily: it is a commentary about a pop phenomena derived from an artistic observation, if that makes sense.

I do believe the album is much more successful at pop than at art. But I believe this could work if the songs have more of a pop focus, while the performances and videos are more rooted to the art side.

Quite an off-topic post, but what you said gave the insight I needed to understand what I wanted from ARTPOP.
