Just saw it here in Geneva!! It was orgasmicaly awesome!!!!!!!! It's really really really faithful to the book although some parts move a lot faster and a tiny subplot was cut. The new scenes are amazing. They add a lot of background in some way, and they set up the next book perfectly.

But some things didn't work for me though. The fire dresses for example. The chariot outfits aren't good looking and adding crappy CG fire to it didn't help at all, and the interview dress is OK, but when she twirls the fire looks fake. I also think it could have been more violent and for those who were wondering, Safe and Sound doesn't come up until halfway through the credits.

who will love me when the night is over

ugggh i was worried about that :(

The violence, they had to cut back because its a younger crowd but i heard it's still very effective, how was the blood?

Good to know Safe and Sound is in it. :)

Yeah, the dresses disappointed me too :(

Don't get me wrong it is violent when you compare it to the usual tween fantasy saga movie, but a lot of it is suggested with the cannons and the general atmosphere. The more graphic/bloodiest scene is at the beggining of the Games, at the Cornucopia. You can see the Tributes slaying each other in the background while Katniss runs. There are even some quick shots of them killing each other. They also show the bloody knives and spears as they pull them out of the bodies (which sucks if you're from the UK because they edited those things out for the rating). I dont know if you want spoilers

but at that first fight, there's a really young Tribute hiding between the boxes in the Cornucopia and when he comes out (you see it from the back) Cato slashes his throat and they show a blood spatter on the wall.

I don't know... I would have liked to see more, I guess.

Ugh, I was so worried about the dresses :fat: I mean, when I was reading the books, I never imagined them to be at all perfect on screen...but it still would have been nice

I'm not expecting much on the gore parts though. Throughout the first book, it seemed mostly like bloody kills, but not necessarily gore. Which they can pull off, since blood is okay for PG-13. Only thing I'm worried about is that they won't pull off the effects with the scabs and **** on the bodies. They seemed very grotesque in the books, but idk if they'll do it right for me in the movie.

And agus, how was (MAJOR SPOILER):

Rue's death scene?

Btw, to put something in spoilers, just use this tag: [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] (just make sure to remove the spaces on the brackets)

Not reading any other review till I see it.

Jennifer on Letterman this week. She´s adorably normal and awkward and this is such a hilarious interview:

Also, the soundtrack is #1 on iTunes and Eyes Open are #5 :flutter:

Well, you do get to see blood, but not in the amounts described in the book. When you say scabs are you talking about

Glimmer? They show her body lying on the ground with ****ed up face and hands, but for like 2 seconds and then you see it distorted because Katinss sight is messed up because of the tracker jacker stings

Rue's death is just like in the book. Katniss comes back after blowing up the Career's trap and sees that she didn't light the second fire. That's when she starts whistling, then she hears Rue cry out for help and finds her in a net. She frees her but Marvel appears and thorws his spear. This is what I mean with the movie not being that violent. You get to see it but you don't at the same time. You see him throw the spear, then the camera cuts to Katniss and it pans a bit and you see the spear in Rue's body and she pulls it out. There's a VERY cool scene afterwards that was added for the movie, but I don't know if you want me to spoil it to you...

YES! It was amazing. The only things that underwhelmed where the dresses and the font used for the title cards at the beggining and the end credits lol.

Yeah, I didn't see any clips or anything, just some photos and the trailer and going unspoiled made it better!

Yay for Eyes Open! It would have been the perfect song to end the movie...
