Popjustice reviews Venus

Reading this thread shows me that Gaga fans are BEYOND delusional. It really shocks me. Everything that PopJustice says about Venus is correct and people are dissing their credibility just because it was a negative review. This review is from people who typically love Gaga, so obviously they aren't trying to bash her personally by giving a negative review of the song. It's amazing how you guys praise people that give Gaga good reviews and claim them as credible, but when someone makes a negative review suddenly they aren't legit. Venus would have not done on the radio because it's not really relatable and the production is messy.

This, if Venus was a song by Katy Perry for example, all of u would laugh how it would flop

This tbh. This song is better suited to be a fan song not something for the general public or the radio stations to eat up. If this song had truly been the 2nd single it would have turned into Judas PT2 and we'd be right back where we were in April/May of 2011 with the rush release of The Edge of Glory.

It's not as put together as DWUW. We're all just excited for new music. Maybe it's not a four, but DWUW certainly trumps it on all fronts (IMO).

I mean, I DO love the song, but let's be real. It would've bombed SO hard. The fact that it was even a contender to be the lead single, let alone a single at all <<<<

Are they high rn? :nails:

but seriously...4/10?  FOUR/TEN???? Venus is obviously a strong track.  It AT LEAST should have gotten 6/10.

Well, that sucks. I enjoy the song anyway.

Venus is very different. It's like Yeezus. It will split opinion and make people talk. They either love it or hate it, just like ART.

I agree, this fanbase can be a bit delusional. So happy DWUW is the 2nd single. Even tho I like Venus, I can see why PopJustice put that review, the song is not really cohesive, great chorus but thats not enough. I like the campy fun of some of the lyrics and the fact it samples Sun Ra's "Rocket 9..." but its a bit too weird for the public I think.

I can certainly see where they're coming from. This isn't everybody's cup of tea. But I love it anyway. I think it's great that we're getting songs that are as kooky as Gaga herself is. But I hope the next album is VERY very different...I've been surprised at how many of the songs remind of BTW, and I thought we were supposed to be getting something completely different. A lot of you probably disagree with me, but hear me out...BTW was definitely more rock influenced, and this album is more glam influenced, but both are VERY very 80s. They're good songs, and I'm going to listen to them like crazy, as I have been, but I think the songs from both BTW and ARTPOP sound too dated for radio.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse with bringing up The Fame again -- especially because I DO NOT miss The Fame era and it isn't my favorite -- but there was just SOMETHING about that music that was so fresh and new. I'm not a music expert by any means, so maybe someone more knowledgeable can educate me on this, but the songs from TF really didn't seem to be overly influenced by any type of music...they were just NEW. Whereas the songs from BTW and ARTPOP both seem to be more focused on paying homage to the past rather than paving the way for the future. But if anyone more knowledgeable about music can point me to the major influences on TF, I'd appreciate it!
