She's not trying to launch a single, she's trying to launch an album. Some stations have given it spins, but Applause is still hugely successful on radio. Perfectly normal. Like I said before, lead singles are often the ones to get the most attention, and subsequent singles often take time to pick up because of this prolonged attention. Would you rather Applause carry out for awhile longer and DWUW slowly start to pick up, thus prolonging both eras, or would you rather Applause nosedive and DWUW gain 10M AI a day so both eras last 2-2.5 months? Just give it time. DWUW hasn't even been a single for a day. You're right, this is the U.S. chart thread lol. It's doing fine internationally so far. I mean, he features quite strongly. I wonder about this too....she never performed with Beyonce, but she did get Too Short and Twista for the Itunes fest.... When Applause started to tumble in the first few days of release and people in this thread were claiming she was over and no one cares anymore and Katy had destroyed her career etc etc. Now look at that same song and how much it has grown since then. Do What U Want is a smash waiting to happen. If it's destined to be a hit (which I'm pretty sure it is), then it will become one in due course. The fact the audio is blocked in the first few days won't make much of a difference in the grand scheme of a single cycle that is probably gonna last a few months. It was a bit of a stupid decision on their part to suddenly rush out a single (AGAIN), and it probably ruined some of the plans they had, but if it is gonna be big then in the end it just will be... No matter how messy it is initially. It would be different if they released Venus, it was floppy, and they decided to rush-release DWUW instead. That would be a REAL mess.
