I know this isn't really the right thread but Applause is now no.2 in Turkish radio charts. Her last hit here was Judas so this is really good news, it shows that she's getting back her radio support worldwide. :)

Why wouldn't Gaga want to release a second single before ARTPOP is dropped? I don't see how it could be bad. It's not like Applause could last that long on the charts before falling. I think a second single is a must, the third single is less likely tho before ARTPOP drops.

I think Applause will have longetivity. Probably Gaga is performing it A LOT after iTunes Festival.

You can't force longevity into a song if it's just not in it. I would LOVE for Applause to be in the top 10 for nearly 4 months; but, realistically, that has never really happened for her. 

 

Arturo brought the idea of a song having radio support even though it has fallen out of the itunes top 20, but that's Maroon 5. I don't see radio giving that same luxury to Gaga. If Applause drops out of the itunes top 20 and begins getting negative radio updates before ARTPOP drops, there'll be nothing left to do except move on to the next single... for the sake of the album's success.

well Applause is def a grower and the radio just have to give it a chance right now it's spin ratio compared to it's AI ratio is VERY positive which shows that when the song is played people are actually listening to it not switiching the station. And of course u could force longevity in the song this it the music industry not a diaper shop. If interscope play it's cards well and do constant promotion the song could explode. Right now the her schedule was more than perfect  (except the leak of course   )

first week the song sold based on her fans, 2nd week the video drop right now she's riding the VMA's performance boost and since the iTunes will be streamed for free WW on Mon and later I think will be broadcasted on TV, will do wonders for the 4th week of songs chart run. We'll see after that what interscopes plans will be. Althought there may be one or 2 weeks that there won't be included a big promotion platform by the end of the Sept the Voice kicks off and she will be performing there, after comes the Grammy's Nomination concert and Gaga may perform (who knows tbh..) and after also there will be the EMA and even if she'll be at the ARTrave party there could be pre-recorded performance that will be streamed during the live show. 

 

So yeah this could do wonders Gaga and her team just need to push it into people's faces so they could see that she's here and she's here to slay.

promo singles aren't usually sent to radio and are just digital.

Glad Gaga is still getting green updates almost two days later even as most of the other VMA songs have slowed down considerably, she and Katy seem to be the definitive winners of that night in terms of sales.

Applause has plenty of room to grow on radio. I could see it having some nice longevity as long as sales stay steady.

Why u'll want 2nd single before the album...here in this era I want more longevity not quantity. I'm here for good 3 and a halfo months of Applause hanging in the top 10 and the 2 nd single after the album but not to late for the Grammy's....why she would release 2nd single next month and by the time the Grammy's come she'll be on her 3rd already....not BTW all over, Judas was released 2 months after BTW and we all saw how this turned out    Althought many blamed the controversy on it, the main problem was the rush that Interscope and Gaga had back then, Judas was just getting strong when they released TEOG and a week after Hair and because of it no GP related theme and lyrics it was overshadowed by them ... the room was just so filled with new songs that there wasn't enough air for Judas to shine.

 

This time they should relay on waiting just wait for the damn song to pick up. 

 

 

Ohh and I was thinking more like dreaming a bit    wouldn't be amazing if there were 2 Applause videos the first on the 19th that was representing ART and there will be a second video which will be representing POP and it's going to premiere on the EMA's for example where it was more tune down like BR in sense of the art direction and stills where she will debut some TechHous product etc. 

And will give the song more streaming exposure and longevity to last until the 2nd single which will be released around New Year.

yeah i totally agree. she needs to wait until december after the album is released to release the 2nd single. we dont want BTW all over again. the reason why Teenage Dream was so popular is because katy gave each single time to grow and spread out her release dates which stretched out the era and made it more memorable. as opposed to BTW which were rush releases. the BTW era was barely longer than TFM era which was an ep.
