Yeah, but the song was not doing well before the video. It was #1 on pop and struggling to be top 20 on iTunes before the video :smh:

Indeed. I just wanted to point out how well Telephone charted eventhough it started poorly and the potential Applause still has...

I think we just all want our favorite artist to be successful. /discussion

It hit #1 on radio before it peaked on the hot 100? :rip:

Yeah because it took Gaga forever to release the video... Without the video the song would have had a chart run like Give Your Heart A Break :smh:

Yes, of course. I want to see Gaga as a succesfull artist but she doesn't have to sell like 10 millions. She is making a good music and she sells / charts ok. :)

well so far things are pretty good. Applause went Top 10 in many countries, and it still being played heavily in many musically-relevant countries.

Why do you care about sells and charts so much?

I don't want to sound b---hy or mean but I'm really wondering.

If ARTPOP doesn't sell 400k in its first week, what will happen? Will you not listen ARTPOP? Will you not love Gaga?

Does Gaga have to be the biggest, most selling, most talked staron planet?

ps: Please no wp because I really want to listen your thoughts and discuss.

I rarely post here but I feel the need to say this.

This is the US Charts Discussion thread. That's it. There is always going to be something to discuss because charts are ever-changing, and data is always coming in (i.e. kworb.net). With information as such, it is important to stay up-to-date and a--lyze the trends that Applause is experiencing. That's why the last two radio updates haven't gone unnoticed.

At the end of the day, most want Gaga to do well. Or just hear Applause on the radio. Plus, chart-watching is fun and interesting.

While some are very dramatic about their post, know that it probably isn't the case in real life.

woah woah woah. Gaga just said on her facebook page that the remixes will be available on 9/30...did she change the date or something?

We like to see how successful she is, and also compare that artist to other artists (we all do it, we can't deny)

It's kind of like if you had a daughter and she entered a talent show. You love her to death, and will be proud no matter what - but you want her to come first.

I won't die, but I can't live without you

I really can't stand drama queens. Sorry for that.

Totally agree. I always refresh kworb's page. I was talking about overreacting about charts / sells. Some people are like if Gaga does not sell at least 7 million she will be done.

But if she doesn't sell nterscope will cut her budget and she would have a little money to make her videos/promo/tour. Just look at Crazy Kids and Cmon videos. That is result of cutting budget

Whether ARTPOP sells 400K or less than 200K in its opening week, I'd still support her. I mean, we're still here even after MTN. It's just that I'm an avid follower of the charts and it's among my interests which I'm strongly passionate about for some reason. Charts in a way could be compared to surveys - it gives us a hint on what the rest of the world is craving about at the moment. Same goes with ratings on television or box-office receipts in movies. Some people find it unimportant, some, like me, find otherwise.

Why? Probably because it's my liking towards becoming a part of the industry itself someday, not as an artist, but as someone behind the scenes. From a business-oriented perspective (or those who are interested in business in general), charts allow us to learn what we could sell to the vast majority and what we couldn't (in terms of branding). From a music fan perspective, I think it's only natural to root for your favourite no matter what.

Similar to how the sports fans would want their teams win every single championship in every season or supporters rooting for their politicians to win every election. I think that's the essence of being a fan at the end of the day, doesn't it? We seek for their best, because in some way or another, we see ourselves to them - whether it's their belief, their stand, their interest, their personality, and whatever. I do, that's why I'm here for Gaga.

Sales/charts DO reflect how successful the single is, and like I said before, we love her - but we want her to win. So when she's not 'winning', we get a bit rowdy.

MTN era performances > Applause performances so far

This! MTN era gave us some of Gagas very best perofrmances. Applause though is one of those songs that are not so good live, like Pokerface. Still it souns epic on big events. Can you imagine Gaga performing Applause on the Superbowl? Epic!!!

I'm sure Gaga will never experience this situation.
