I thought that for a really long time when I was trying to "understand" the reason his lyrics ARE so shockingly dissimilar from the core of the song. That he represents the industry and we can even call it The Fame MONSTER, but I just can't get behind that when Swine and Dope are on the same record. She wanted to REBUKE fame. Make fun of the culture (Donatella). Her interviews. EVERYTHING she was doing screamed in the face of culture. While still being a pawn in it. And I just think that message comes across better in the solo/XTINA version.

So this is my little conspiracy based on those ARTPOP era planning docs that leaked SEVERAL years ago.

Sexxx Dreams was originally going to be the song that had a feature on the album. It was gonna be Rihanna. That WAS going to happen. That got scrapped. They kept it open for a feature, Robin Thicke. Had the version with Robin Thicke STUCK, we would have gotten solo DWUW. But because he said no, they pivoted. The feature FEELS forced, it FEELS like that songs soul was 🍇'd. I have hated it since the BEATS commercial. When the xtina version came out then ultimately the solo demo, I will never forgive the series of events that lead to THAT finished product.

Nobody else because R. Kelly was the right voice for it, the solo version would've been ok too I like that one as well. I wish Gaga had released the solo version first on the album and then the R. Kelly as a separate single just so she could've deleted that one instead, not re-release the vinyl without it.

Solo. If anything I actually wanted the Xtina collab to be the official released single, like having the solo in the main album, then a remix with Xtina as a single or like that of some sorts.

agreed. I find that to be the superior version, it just sounds the best to my ears. I think the alternate solo Gaga/Christina verse is weak lyrically, and it never hits the same. Just sucks that it's HIM who is singing on the OG version, and tainted such an otherwise great track
